其黃門侍郎張華進曰：「夫爭奪之世，非雄才不振； His Gentleman Attendant at the Yellow Gate Zhang Hua stepped forward and said: “In an age of struggle, only heroic talent can rouse the realm;

張華進曰：「彭城阻帶山川，楚之舊都，地險人殷，可攻而據之，以為基本。」 Zhang Hua stepped forward, saying, 'Pengcheng is girded by mountains and rivers, the old Chu capital; the ground is defensible and the people abundant; we can attack and hold it as our foundation.'

張華進曰：「杜弘未行而求祿，要利情深，不可使也。」 Zhang Hua stepped forward, saying, 'Du Hong has not yet gone but seeks salary; his desire for profit runs deep; he cannot be used.'

尚書張華曰：「若侵掠吳邊，必成鄰怨。 Minister Zhang Hua said: “If we raid Jin’s border, we are sure to complete neighborly resentment.

超大悅曰：「張尚書得吾心矣。」 Chao was greatly pleased and said: “Director Zhang has gotten Our heart.”

超遣其僕射張華、給事中宗正元入長安，送太樂伎一百二十人于姚興。 Murong Chao sent Zhang Hua and Zong Zhengyuan with a hundred twenty court musicians.

興大悅，延華入宴。 Yao Xing feasted Zhang Hua.

酒酣，樂作，興黃門侍郎尹雅謂華曰：「昔殷之將亡，樂師歸周； When the wine was deep and music began, Xing’s gentleman attendant at the yellow gate Yin Ya said to Hua: “Anciently when Yin was about to perish, the music masters went to Zhou;

華曰：「自古帝王，為道不同，權譎之理，會于功成。 Hua said: “From antiquity emperors have differed in their Way; the pattern of weighing stratagem meets in merit accomplished.

華遜辭曰：「奉使之始，實願交歡上國，上國既遺小國之臣，辱及寡君社稷，臣亦何心，而不仰酬！」 Hua deferentially said: “When the mission began, I truly wished to befriend the superior state; the superior state has now disdained the small state’s minister and insulted even our poor ruler’s altars—how could your servant lack heart and not answer upward!”

右僕射張華、中丞封愷並為裕軍所獲。 Zhang Hua and Feng Kai fell prisoner.

裕令華、愷與超書，勸令早降。 Liu Yu made them write Murong Chao to yield.
