甲子，初，張覺為遼興軍節度副使，<六>民推覺領州事。
On the jiazi day, Zhang Jue, formerly deputy military commissioner of the Liaoxing Army, was acclaimed by the people to take charge of the prefecture.
覺知遼必亡，練兵畜馬，籍丁壯為備。
Convinced that Liao was doomed, Jue trained troops, stockpiled horses, and registered the able-bodied men for defense.
立愛至，覺弗納。
When Li'ai arrived, Jue refused him entry.
公弼曰：「覺狂妄寡謀，雖有鄉兵，彼何能為？
Gongbi replied, "Jue is reckless and has little judgment. What can he accomplish with a mere local militia?
金人招時立愛赴軍前，加覺臨海軍節度使，仍知平州。
The Jin summoned Shi Li'ai to headquarters, promoted Jue to military commissioner of the Linhai Army, and left him in charge of Ping Prefecture.
既而又欲以精兵三千先下平州，擒張覺。
They later proposed sending three thousand elite troops to seize Ping Prefecture and capture Zhang Jue.
覺謂公弼曰：「遼之八路，七路已降；
Jue told Gongbi, "Seven of Liao's eight circuits have already surrendered;
金人遂改平州為南京，加覺試中書門下平章事，判留守事。
The Jin then redesignated Ping Prefecture as their Southern Capital and promoted Jue to acting director of affairs under the Secretariat-Chancellery, placing him in charge of the military governor's office.
