張康國薦于徽宗，召對，問西北邊事，以笏畫禦榻，指坐衣花紋為形勢。 Zhang Kangguo recommended him to Emperor Huizong. Summoned for audience, Guan was questioned on northwest frontier affairs; he traced on the imperial couch with his tablet and used the patterns on the emperor's robe to illustrate the terrain.
