上命解任，交總督孫嘉淦會鞫，濟世捕衡陽丁役下長沙知府張琳，讞得徵收浮費有據。 The emperor ordered him relieved of duty and referred the case to Governor-General Sun Jiagan for joint trial. Jishi arrested Hengyang clerks and runners and submitted them to Changsha Prefect Zhang Lin; sentencing established that extra fees had been collected, with evidence on record.

上責嘉淦草率扶同，召還京師，解容、璨任，奪琳、德貽、澎官。 The emperor rebuked Jiagan for carelessness and collusion, recalled him to the capital, relieved Rong and Can of duty, and stripped Lin, Deyi, and Peng of office.
