張永德屯下蔡，與重進不協。 Zhang Yongde held Xia'ai and was on bad terms with Chongjin.

永德每宴將吏，多暴重進短，後乘醉謂重進有奸謀，將吏無不驚駭。 At every feast Yongde aired Chongjin's faults; once drunk he accused Chongjin of treason, to the horror of every officer present.

永德密遣親信乘驛上言，世宗不之信，亦不介意。 Yongde sent a trusted courier by post to report the charge; Shizong did not believe it and took no notice.

重進遂自壽陽單騎直詣永德帳中，命酒飲，親酌謂永德曰：“吾與公皆國家肺腑，相與戮力，同獎王室，公何疑我之深也。” Chongjin rode alone from Shouyang into Yongde's camp, called for wine, and poured for him himself: "We are both pillars of the state, fighting together for the throne — why do you doubt me so bitterly?"

永德意解，二軍皆安。 Yongde's suspicions melted away, and both armies were calmed.
