二年，偕趙三元夜襲雨花台石城，束草填壕，緣梯將上，賊驚覺，燃砲轟擊，軍少卻。 In the second year he and Zhao Sanyuan raided the Yuhuatai stone fort by night, stuffing the ditch with straw bundles and going up on ladders; the rebels woke, opened fire with cannon, and the troops briefly withdrew.
