During the reign of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang he once took the Jinshi examination but failed. He therefore wished to take his wife and children and live hidden in mountains and valleys, but his wife disapproved and refused to go. Yunsou then traveled lightly through various prefectures, obtained several hundred strings of cash to support his family, bade farewell, and departed.
