乾化三年，與袁象先同誅朱友珪，梁末帝授洺州刺史，轉河陽留後。 In the third year of Qianhua he joined Yuan Xiangxian in killing Zhu Yougui; the Last Liang Emperor made him prefect of Ming, then regent of Heyang.

朱友珪之篡位也，懷州龍驤守禦軍作亂，欲入京城。 When Zhu Yougui seized the throne, the Dragon-Soaring garrison at Huai mutinied and tried to march on the capital.

已至河陽，友珪命晏球出騎迎戰擊亂軍，獲軍使劉重遇，以功轉左龍驤第一指揮使。 They had reached Heyang when Yougui sent Yanqiu out with cavalry to meet the rebels; he captured the mutiny leader Liu Chongyu and was promoted to first commander of the Left Dragon-Soaring Army.

郢王友珪篡位，授洺州團練使。 When Prince Ying Yougui usurped the throne, he was made training commissioner of Ming.
