庶人友珪者，太祖初鎮宣武，略地宋，亳間，與逆旅婦人野合而生也。 Yougui, later the Deposed, was born when Taizu first governed Xuanwu and raided the lands between Song and Bo, of a chance union with an innkeeper’s wife.

太祖病久，王氏與友珪妻張氏，常專房侍疾。 During Taizu’s long illness, Lady Wang and Yougui’s wife Zhang attended him alone in his chambers.

乃謂敬翔曰：「友珪可與一郡，趣使之任。」 He then told Jing Xiang: “Give Yougui a prefecture and hurry him to his post.”

乃以友珪為萊州刺史。 He then made Yougui prefect of Laizhou.
