莊宗初定河南，象先率先入覲，輦珍幣數十萬，遍賂權貴及劉皇后、伶官巷伯，居旬日，內外翕然稱之。 When Zhuangzong first secured the south, Yuan Xiangxian was first to court, bringing tribute worth hundreds of thousands. He bribed every powerful man, Empress Liu, the actor-officials, and the palace brokers. Within ten days the court was praising him on every side.
