答敕云：「臣昔不能拔賞，隨世所貴，規摹子敬，多歷年所。 Replying to the edict he said, "I formerly could not break free in appreciation and followed what the age valued, modeling myself on Zi Jing for many years.

又以逸少之不及元常，猶子敬之不及逸少。 and also that Xizhi does not match You, just as Zi Jing does not match Xizhi.

自此研思，方悟隸式，始變子敬，全範元常。 From this I studied and reflected and at last understood clerical forms. I began to change from Zi Jing and wholly took You as my model.
