Tianming 3, X/bingyin: a comet appeared in the east with a five-zhang tail; night by night it drifted toward the Dipper and set on the nineteenth day. Shunzhi 9, XI/gengyin: a pale unusual star appeared at Shen and moved northwest into Bi.

Kangxi 3, X/jiwei (new moon): a star flared at Zhen and was seen in the east; dingmao: tail seven or eight cun, bluish, pointing southwest; dinghai: tail over three chi, pointing northwest; it retrograded to Yi; XI/wuxu: tail over five chi, pointing north, reaching Zhang; gengzi: it reached Jing; guimao: it traveled northwest to Mao; yisi: tail toward the northeast, reaching Wei; gengxu: it reached Lou; tail eastward; green in color; XII/renxu: it reached Kui; the nucleus had shrunk; the tail was just over two chi. Kangxi 4, II/jisi: an unusual star appeared at Nu in the southeast; jiaxu: tail seven cun, southwest, pale bluish-white; dingchou: tail just over one chi; it ran northeast in prograde motion to Xu; xinsi: it reached Shi; the body swelled; the tail grew to over eight chi; yiyou: it reached Bi with a tail of over five chi. Kangxi 7, I/jiazi: a white beam in the southwest over six chi long, tail toward the southeast—the omen is the Celestial Spear; II/yihai: it lengthened to over four zhang, its tail brushing Tianyuan, Jiuyou, and Junjing; dinghai: it disappeared. Kangxi 12, II/guisi: an unusual star at Lou, walnut-sized and white, with a tail over one chi pointing east; jiawu: still visible. Kangxi 15, I/wuzi: a white unusual star appeared northeast of Tianyuan. Kangxi 16, III/guimao: a bright, lustrous unusual star at Lou in the northeast, tail over one chi toward the southwest—the omen is Harbor of Praise. Kangxi 19, X/wuzi: a white comet at Right Law-Enforcer, tail over one chi westward, racing east; renyin: too near the sun to be seen. XI/bingchen (new moon): only the tail-trail showed in the west at dusk; renxu: the nucleus appeared, pale bluish, with a tail over six zhang long and two chi wide toward the northeast. Kangxi 21, VII/jisi: a white comet north of North River, tail over two chi southwestward, hurtling northeast; renshen: it entered the Wu palace with a tail of over six chi. Kangxi 22, intercalary VI/gengxu: a white unusual star east of Bagu and north of Wuche, retrograding southwest; wuchen: it entered Wuche. Kangxi 23, V/jiashen: a large, bright white unusual star in the Supreme Palace Enclosure, linked east to Zhen, running prograde northeast; yiyou: after a little over four degrees it stood below Right Sieve-Handle. Kangxi 25, VII/gengyin: a white unusual star low in the east, drifting east at an easy pace; dingyou: after sixteen degrees it reached Liu with a faint tail-trail; renyin: it reached Xing and faded away. Kangxi 27, X/jiyou: a white unusual star at Kui, visible three nights. Kangxi 29, VIII/jiyou: a yellow unusual star at Ji, visible two nights.

Qianlong 2, VI/dingmao: a white unusual star east of Right Geng, in Lou, moving southwest; bingzi: still visible. Qianlong 7, I/dinghai: an unusual star in the southeast; wuzi: risen twenty-seven-odd degrees, pellet-sized and yellow, tail over four chi southwestward in the Chou palace beyond Xu's star in the Celestial Market; after forty-odd days of retrograde motion it vanished. Qianlong 8, XI/jihai: a pellet-sized yellow-white comet between Kui and Bi, tail over one chi eastward in the Xu palace; it retrograded until Qianlong 9, I/xinmao—fifty-three days and twenty-nine-odd degrees. Qianlong 13, III/guichou: a hazelnut-sized yellow unusual star in the east, tail over two chi southwestward south of Ligong's third star; by IV/jiayin (new moon) it had run three degrees prograde, tail down to one chi, body small and dim; renxu: it reached Tengshe; yichou: it reached Wangliang; bingyin: no longer visible. Qianlong 14, V/jiayin: an auspicious star in the east, egg-sized, oblong, yellow-white and lustrous, moving unhurriedly from Tianjin into Chugao—the omen is Harbor of Praise. Qianlong 24, III/renchen: a comet in the southeast; jiawu: below Xu's first star, hazelnut-sized and pale, tail over one chi southwestward in prograde motion; guimao: nucleus shrunk and dim; only three or four cun of tail left; wushen: gone altogether. IV/wuchen: a comet in the southwest above Zhang's second star; jisi: six degrees from Zhang, hazelnut-sized and gray-yellow, tail-light diffuse over two chi southeastward in prograde motion; renshen: trace barely perceptible; dingchou: fainter still; jimao: dispersing; V/renwu: gone altogether. XI/wuchen: a hazelnut-sized gray-yellow unusual star in the southeast below Jing's fourth star, moving northwest; guiyou: four degrees on, at Wei with a faint tail-trail; XII/dingchou (new moon): gone altogether. Qianlong 34, VII/jiachen: a comet in the southeast below Mao; dingwei: pellet-sized and pale, three-chi tail southwestward, racing in prograde motion; VIII/dingmao: in conjunction with the sun and invisible; X/xinhai: visible in the west below Liesi's second star, tiny in body with a one-chi tail; bingzi: gone altogether. Qianlong 35, intercalary V/jiyou: a pellet-sized gray-yellow unusual star in the southeast west of Tianbian's first star; guichou: thirty-two degrees northward; yichou: no longer visible. XI/yichou: a comet in the southeast over one chi long; bingyin: below Liu's second star; wuchen: pale, tail southeastward, shifting northwest more than ten degrees a day; gengwu: dimming; xinwei: gone altogether.

IX/jiashen (new moon): from Woman into Feathered Forest Army, small stars in its train, without noticeable color.
