In the eighth year of Tonghe, on xinsi day of the first spring month, the Emperor went to Taihu. On gengyin day an edict ordered the clearing of backlogged cases. On gengzi day the Emperor went to Shenzi Marsh. On the dingwei new moon of the second month Khotan and the Uyghur each sent tribute envoys. On renshen day the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On dingchou day in the third month Li Jiqian of Western Xia sent envoys with tribute. On gengchen day Venus and Mars came into conjunction fifteen times. On yiyou day the court fortified Xingguo and settled it with Song captives. On xinchou day Yi Prefecture was established. On the bingwu new moon of the fourth summer month Yan Prefecture prefect Li Shouying had governed well; when the people asked that he stay, the request was granted. On gengxu day the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On gengwu day, because drought had left the tribes short of food, relief was distributed. On gengchen day in the seventh autumn month Nanjing's Bear Army was renamed the Divine Army. An edict ordered sub-jurisdictions for the Eastern Capital Circuit palace divisions, created Dingba, Baohe, and Xuanhua counties, and added one county each to Baichuan, Yikun, Liaoxi, and Qian prefectures. Ten prefectures including Suai, Gui, Song, Rao, Ning, Hai, Rui, Yu, Tieli, and Fengde were abolished, along with eight counties including Yutian, Liaofeng, Songshan, Hongyuan, Huaiqing, Yunlong, Pingze, and Pingshan; their populations were reassigned to other jurisdictions. On yimao day of the eighth month the court sacrificed black and white sheep to heaven and earth. On yihai day of the ninth month the four divisions of the Northern Jurchen asked to submit. On renchen day Li Jiqian presented Song captives. On bingwu day of the tenth winter month, after a great victory over Song forces, envoys were again sent to report the news. On jiyou day the Zubu and others sent envoys with tribute. That month the court encamped at Dawang River. On gengyin day of the eleventh month, because the Tuyuhun were starving, relief was distributed. On dingyou day Venus was visible in daylight. On xinmao day an edict exempted rent and taxes throughout the three capitals and all circuits and abolished the field survey. On bingwu day of the second month Western Xia sent envoys reporting victory over Song. On dingwei day Zhuo Prefecture prefect Yelü Wangliu was appointed tiyin. On jiazi day the cities of Weikou, Zhenhua, and Laiyuan were built and garrison troops stationed there. On the xinwei new moon of the intercalary month there was a solar eclipse. On renshen day Hanlin Academician Xing Baopu, Three Departments commissioner Li Si, supervisory censor Liu Jing, administrative secretary Zhang Gan, and Nanjing vice regent Wu Hao were sent to clear backlogged cases across the circuits. On the gengzi new moon of the third month relief was given to the Shiwei and Wugu tribes. On wushen day Ma Shouqi, Qi Zheng, Cui You, Cui Jian, and others were again sent to clear backlogged cases across the circuits. On jiazi day the court visited Nanjing. On jiaxu day of the fourth summer month the Uyghur came with tribute. On yihai day King of Xia Li Jiqian sent Du Bai to court to thank the court for his investiture. On bingxu day the court took the summer retreat at Coal Mountain. On jiwei day of the fifth month Prince of Qin Han Kuangsi's private fortified town was made Quan Prefecture. On dinghai day of the sixth month the Turks came with tribute. That month prolonged rain at Nanjing damaged the crops. On guimao day in the seventh autumn month a universal household registration was ordered. On yisi day an edict ordered the circuits to recommend able men, investigate corruption and cruelty, care for the elderly, forbid extravagance and overstepping rank, and appoint the descendants of those who died in state service. On jiwei day Western Xia, having recovered Sui and Yin prefectures, sent envoys to report. On guiyou day of the eighth month Tong Prefecture produced stalks of auspicious grain and sweet dew fell at the Eastern Capital. On wuyin day the Jurchen presented deer-callers. On renwu day the Eastern Capital presented a three-legged crow. On gengzi day of the ninth month the Bigud came with tribute. On jiyou day the court encamped at Miaocheng. Nanjing was shaken by an earthquake. On dingmao day of the tenth winter month Arsalan Uyghur came with tribute. On renshen day King of Xia Li Jiqian sent envoys presenting edict commands granted by Song. On dingchou day Dingnan Army military commissioner Li Jipeng submitted; he was granted the titles Loyal and Obedient, Effectively Filial, Initiating Sage, and Pacifier of Dingnan, made Kaifu Yitong Sansi and acting grand preceptor with concurrent palace secretary, and enfeoffed as Western Peace King. On jihai day of the eleventh month the court sacrificed a green ox and white horse to heaven and earth. In the twelfth month King of Xia Li Jiqian secretly renewed ties with Song, and pacification commissioner Han Dewei was sent with an edict to rebuke him. That year jinshi Shi Yongzhong alone passed the examinations.

On renwu day rent and taxes at Yun Prefecture were remitted. On gengyin day Western Xia, protesting Han Dewei's raids, sent envoys to court; a comforting edict was issued in reply. On xinmao day relief was granted to displaced persons in Yun Prefecture. On jiachen day of the third month the Iron Li came with tribute. On bingchen day the Emperor went to Coal Mountain. On yichou day of the fourth summer month Taihu was designated an imperial visitation district. On gengyin day the court held an archery contest for the ministers. On guisi day of the fifth month displaced persons in Shuo Prefecture were granted three years' relief. On xinyou day of the seventh month the Iron Li came with tribute. On guihai day of the eighth month the court inspected the crops and sent envoys to review the fields district by district. On guimao day of the ninth month the court visited Jinhe Temple on Wutai Mountain and feasted the monks. On renshen day of the tenth winter month the King of Xia sent envoys with tribute. On wuyin day the Iron Li came with tribute. On renchen day of the eleventh month the Uyghur came with tribute. On gengchen day of the twelfth month the court hunted at Ruzhou East River. The court performed heaven worship. That month Eastern Capital regent Xiao Hengde and others were sent to attack Goryeo.

On bingwu day money from the inner treasury was distributed to the armies of the Nanjing military command. Goryeo King Wang Zhi sent Park Yangrou with a memorial begging pardon; an edict ceded several hundred li of Jurchen territory east of the Yalu River to Goryeo. On guihai day of the second month Lady Wang, a commoner's wife of Bazhou, was executed for sorcery that misled the people. In the fourth summer month the court went to Coal Mountain for the summer retreat. In the sixth month heavy rains fell. On jichou day in the seventh autumn month the Sanggan and Yang Rivers overflowed west of Juyong Pass and nearly destroyed the grain crop; many homes in Fengsheng and Nanjing were flooded. In the eighth month the court went to Autumn Mountain. On the jiashen new moon of the tenth winter month the court halted at Pugui Slope. That year jinshi Wang Xizai and one other passed the examinations.

On the guichou new moon of the first spring month in the twelfth year, flooding at Huoyin Town drowned more than thirty villages, and an edict ordered the old canal dredged. On jiayin day co-chancellor of the Secretariat Yelü Shuolao was appointed tiyin. An edict restored land tax within fifty li of the traveling palace. On yimao day the court visited Yanfang Marsh. On wuwu day Yi Prefecture's tax and corvée were remitted. On gengshen day langjun Yelü Bise and others plotted rebellion and were executed. On renxu day Southern Court Great King Yelü Jing was appointed Shangjing military commissioner and enfeoffed Duke of Qishui Commandery. Li Zaiyou, a commoner of Bazhou aged one hundred thirty-three, was granted silk, a brocade robe, and a silver belt, given monthly rations of mutton and wine, and his household was exempted from service. On jiashen day of the second month rent and tax were remitted for Nanjing households affected by flood. On jichou day Goryeo came with tribute. On jiawu day the yearly tribute of sheep from the various tribes and border transit levies were remitted. On gengzi day the Uyghur came with tribute. On dingsi day of the third month Goryeo sent envoys asking for the return of captives and livestock, and an edict ordered them ransomed and returned. On wuwu day the court visited Nanjing. On bingyin day envoys were sent to comfort and instruct Goryeo. On jisi day linked trees appeared in Zhuo Prefecture. On renshen day the court went to Changchun Palace to view the peonies. That month the Nanjing army superintendent was restored. On xinmao day of the fourth summer month the court visited Nanjing. On renchen day Pivot Academy academician Liu Shu was appointed Southern Court deputy commissioner of military affairs. On wuxu day, because the stone image of Emperor Jingzong was completed, the court visited Yanshou Temple and fed the monks. On jiayin day of the fifth month an edict ordered that aged men of the Northern Pishi Army unfit for duty be exempted from service. On wuwu day the court went to Coal Mountain for the summer retreat. On gengchen day Wuding Army military commissioner Han Dechong's term expired; when the people asked that he stay, the request was granted. On the xinsi new moon of the sixth month an edict ordered that prefectural and county chief officials who had ability and no faults be appointed with one rank of seniority deducted from their evaluation. On guiwei day Kehan Prefecture prefect Jia Jun presented a new calendar. On gengzi day prisoners were reviewed. On jiachen day an edict ordered that aged and sick men of the Dragon and Phoenix armies be replaced. That month Venus and Jupiter crossed one another. On the xinhai new moon of the seventh autumn month there was a solar eclipse. On jiayin day envoys were sent to inspect the grain crops of the various circuits. On xinyou day Southern Court commissioner of military affairs Shi Fang was appointed Zhongjing military commissioner and given the honorific Shangfu. On bingyin day the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On wuchen day the court inspected the harvest. On gengwu day an edict ordered that Khitan who committed the ten abominations be judged under Han law. On jimao day Hanlin Academician Xing Baopu was appointed associate state counselor. On yiyou day Song sent envoys seeking peace, and the request was refused. On wuzi day Imperial Uncle Tent Ke Xiao Tugu was appointed yilibi. On yiwei day an edict was issued admonishing officials within and outside the court. On dingyou day prisoners were reviewed, and those guilty of miscellaneous offenses below capital crime were released. On renzi day of the ninth month the Shiwei, Tangut, Tuhun, and others came with tribute. On xinyou day Song again sent envoys seeking peace, and the request was refused. On renxu day the worship-of-ao rite was performed. On guiyou day the Zubu and others came with tribute. On yiyou day of the tenth winter month the court hunted in the western hills of Kehan Prefecture. On yisi day an edict fixed the uniform-tax law. On dingwei day the Court of Judicial Review was given a vice director and a chief. On the wushen new moon of the eleventh month the rebirth rite was performed. The Iron Li came with tribute. An edict ordered that Song captives taken by the various tribes who were officials, scholars, or skilled men, and brave and strong men in the circuit armies, all be reported by name. On gengxu day an edict ordered the commanderies and districts to present men learned in the classics and men of outstanding talent. On jiayin day an edict ordered delayed cases decided at Nanjing. On jiwei day six Song captives including Wei Desheng were given office. On the wuyin new moon of the twelfth month there was a solar eclipse. An edict ordered the Xi princely house's Aoli, Duowei, and Meizhi three divisions merged into one, and each of the two ke divided into divisions to make up six divisions. On jiashen day plow oxen were granted to poor households of the Nanjing military command. On wuzi day Goryeo presented singing girls and musicians, and they were declined. On gengyin day vagrant laborers were forbidden. On guisi day the Jurchen reported that Song men had crossed the sea to bribe their state and that the Wu'er had rebelled. On guihai day Changning Army military commissioner Xiao Jieli's term expired; when the people asked that he stay, the request was granted. On gengwu day the court went to Changchun Palace. On the dingchou new moon of the third month the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On jiachen day Goryeo sent Li Zhouzhen with tribute. On guichou day of the third month Western Xia sent envoys with tribute. On wuchen day more than a hundred men of Wuqing County entered Song territory to plunder; an edict ordered them executed and the people, livestock, and goods they had seized returned. On jimao day of the fourth summer month associate state counselor Xing Baopu left office to mourn his mother and was recalled to service. On bingxu day an edict ordered that common households of the various circuits who since the Yingli reign had been coerced into becoming retainers be registered again with prefectures and counties. On jiawu day the court went to Coal Mountain for the summer retreat. On renzi day of the fifth month Goryeo presented hawks. On yihai day the Northern, Southern, and Yishi Three Offices asked to requisition rich households' horses for military needs; the request was refused and official horses were supplied instead. On the bingzi new moon of the sixth month Qisheng Army military commissioner Liu Jichen's term expired; when the people asked that he stay, the request was granted. On dingchou day an edict reduced the land-tax rent and levies from the previous year's field survey. On jiashen day the private walled town of Commissioner of the Palace Attendants Amoli was made Feng Prefecture. On bingxu day an edict permitted people of Changping, Huairou, and other counties to claim wasteland for farming. On the yisi new moon of the seventh autumn month the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On dingsi day the Wu'er Wuzhaodu, Bohai Yanpo, and others invaded the Iron Li, and Xi King Heshuonu and others were dispatched to attack them. On renxu day an edict ordered the Dragon Guard and Weisheng Army of Yu and Shuo prefectures to rotate garrison duty. On bingzi day of the eighth month Western Xia sent envoys presenting horses. On renchen day an edict ordered mountain and river shrines and temples of former sages repaired and sacrifices performed at the proper seasons. On wuwu day of the ninth month, because Nanjing National University students had grown numerous, a watermill estate was specially granted. On dingmao day the stone images of Emperor Jingzong and the Empress Dowager were installed at Yanfang Marsh. On yihai day of the tenth winter month charity granaries were established. On xinsi day the Uyghur came with tribute. On jiashen day Goryeo sent Li Zhibai with tribute. On wuzi day the Wu'er submitted, and an edict instructed them. On gengzi day the Bigud came with tribute. On dingsi day an edict remitted taxes and levies in the three capitals and the various prefectures. On bingyin day Western Xia sent envoys with tribute. On gengwu day Yan Gui, a household slave of palace attendant Amoli, was appointed prefect of Feng Prefecture. On gengyin day in the second month the Uyghur sent envoys with tribute. On renyin day in the third month Goryeo King Wang Zhi asked to marry; the court agreed to give him the daughter of Eastern Capital regent and imperial son-in-law Xiao Hengde. On gengxu day Goryeo again sent ten youths to study the Khitan language. On jiayin day Han Dewei reported victory over the Tangut. On jiazi day an edict ordered resettlement and relief for displaced people in Shuo Prefecture. On jiaxu day in the fourth summer month each eastern tribe was given its own overseer. On gengyin day the court went to Coal Mountain for the summer retreat. On jihai day Mount Da'an was excavated and the treasure Liu Shouguang had hidden there was recovered. That month Xi King Heshuonu, Eastern Capital regent Xiao Hengde, and three others were demoted for failing to subdue the Wu'er. The various tribes' lingwen posts were converted to military commissioner posts. On guimao day of the fifth month an edict ordered associate state counselor Xing Baopu to decide delayed cases at Nanjing. On gengxu day one hundred seven soldiers of Shuo Prefecture's Weisheng Army defected to Song. On xinwei day of the sixth month the court went to Coal Mountain for the summer retreat. The Iron Li sent tribute. On yiyou day the Uyghur sent tribute. On jichou day Goryeo sent envoys to inquire after the Emperor's health. Later envoys arrived at irregular intervals. On wuwu day in the seventh autumn month the Uyghur and others sent tribute. On dingchou day in the intercalary month the Five Courts Division presented gold and horses found while excavating a cave. On bingchen day in the tenth winter month Liu Sui was ordered to teach sword fighting to Nanjing's Shenwu Army, and robes, belts, brocade, and coins were granted. On wuwu day Wuzhaodu asked to submit and be incorporated. On jiaxu day in the eleventh month an edict forbade army officers from hunting out of season and harming the harvest. On yiyou day stone images of Emperor Jingzong and the Empress Dowager were installed at Qian Prefecture. That month Arsalan Uyghur sent envoys asking to marry his son into the court; the request was refused. On jiayin day in the twelfth month the newly fixed tax law of the Nanjing circuit was reduced because it was too heavy. On jiazi day Talin lured rebel chieftains including Arudun, beheaded sixty of them, and was enfeoffed Duke of Lanling. The court visited Nanjing. That year jinshi Zhang Jian and two others passed the examinations.

On guimao day the Wu'er chief Wuzhou surrendered. On wuzi day the Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On jichou day an edict ordered Nanjing to clear its backlog of prisoners. On yiwei day an edict remitted taxes owed by displaced people. On the bingshen new moon of the second month the court visited Changchun Palace. On wuxu day wealthy households of the Pinbu division were urged to contribute money to support the poor. On gengzi day the people of Liangmen, Suicheng, Taizhou, and Beiping were relocated inland. On bingwu day Western Xia sent envoys with tribute. On jiayin day the Emperor inquired after the Empress Dowager's health. On bingchen day Han Dewei reported victory over the Tangut. On guisi day the Song emperor Zhao Jiong died and his son Zhao Heng succeeded to the throne. On jiawu day the Grand Imperial Consort reported victory on the western frontier. On the yiwei new moon of the fourth summer month the yearly zheng tribute of the five Xi divisions was abolished. On wuxu day the court reviewed prisoners. On renyin day charity-granary grain was issued to relieve the people of Nanjing's counties. On bingwu day Guangde Army military commissioner Han Ningning, whose benevolent rule the people wished to retain at term's end, was allowed to stay. On jiyou day the court visited Nanjing. My son is master of all under Heaven; if you gallop about hunting in the fields and by any chance there is a bit-in-the-mouth mishap, you will only send me grief. Take this deeply to heart!" In the ninth month, on bingyin day, eastern frontier garrison troops were withdrawn. On gengwu day the court visited Rao Prefecture and offered rites at Emperor Taizu's temple. On wuzi day Xiao Talin reported victory over the Zubu. On the renchen new moon of the tenth winter month the court encamped at Camel Mountain and abolished tribute from the Xi King and the various tribes. On yiwei day seasonal clothing was granted to the palace guard. On dingyou day an edict forbade monasteries and mountain temples from ordaining monks and nuns indiscriminately. On wuxu day the ban on fishing at Yu Marsh on the Eastern Capital circuit was lifted. On wushen day, because litigation at the Supreme Capital had become excessive, those responsible were called to account. On xinyou day the court reviewed prisoners. On the renxu new moon of the eleventh month prisoners were reviewed; on bingxu day the court visited Xian Prefecture. On wuzi day the court visited Xian Mausoleum. On gengyin day the court visited Qian Mausoleum. That month Goryeo King Wang Zhi died; his nephew Song sent Wang Tongying to report the death. On yisi day in the twelfth month the court went ice fishing on the Tu River. On jiyou day the court encamped at Camel Mountain. On renzi day Western Xia sent envoys with tribute. On jiayin day envoys were sent to mourn Goryeo King Wang Zhi, and an edict put his nephew in provisional charge of state affairs. On bingchen day the court reviewed prisoners. That year jinshi Chen Ding and one other passed the examinations.
