In the sixteenth year, on jimao day of the first spring month the court went to the Huntong River. On gengshen day of the second month the court went to Yuer Marsh. On xinyou day officials were forbidden at banquets and entertainments to present memorials on private affairs. An edict ordered that hereditary-selection offices employ the capable chosen from elders of each tribe. On dinghai day of the third month the court went to Heishui Marsh. On guisi day envoys were dispatched to review and decide prisoners in Shuang Prefecture. On renyin day heavy snow fell. On the yisi new moon of the fourth summer month the Empress Dowager fell ill, and the Emperor galloped to visit her. On bingwu day the Empress Dowager recovered, and the court again went to Heishui Marsh. On dingmao day a general amnesty was proclaimed. On wushen day of the sixth month the court summered at Yongan Mountain. On dingsi day Zubu great king Tutugu came to court and presented local products. On wuwu day an edict ordered commoners and gentry to submit memorials. On xinmao day of the seventh autumn month the court visited Qing Prefecture. From this month until the ninth month the court hunted daily at Chubu Gou Xialie, Xilun, Shita, and other mountains. On xinhai day of the tenth winter month the court visited the Central Capital and paid respects at the ancestral temple. On bingchen day the ritual was fixed for princesses performing daughter-in-law rites toward parents-in-law. On gengwu day Tieli Xianmen came to court; because this was his first tribute, he was promoted to Right Defender of the Gate Commandant grand general. On wuyin day of the eleventh month sacrifice was made at Muye Mountain. On jichou day the court visited the Central Capital and attended upon the Empress Dowager. On renchen day leaking palace affairs was forbidden. On the xinchou new moon of the twelfth month Jurchen sent envoys with tribute. On xinhai day the court paid respects at Taizu's temple and viewed the painting 《Taizong's Recovery of Jin》. On guichou day the Emperor inquired after the Empress Dowager's health. On yimao day, because the Empress Dowager had recovered, mixed offenses of capital crime were reduced one degree in punishment, and those at convict labor and below were exempted. On gengshen day Southern Court chancellor Du Fang and Han Shaorong erred in memorializing, and each was punished with the great staff. Fang was dismissed and made military commissioner of Wuding Army. On renxu day Goryeo sent envoys with tribute.

In the seventeenth year, on dinghai day of the first spring month the court went to spring waters. In the intercalary month, on guichou day, tigers were shot at Houliji. On xinsi day of the second month relief was given to the Yaowen and Chaowen tribes. That month an edict ordered commoners and gentry to speak on what benefited the state; they must not touch their own affairs; what slaves and maidservants saw, they might report to their masters but must not present it themselves. Xia State king Li Yuanhao died; his son Liangzuo sent envoys to announce it; the court immediately dispatched Yongxing Palace commissioner Yelü Li, Right Defender of the Guard grand guardian Yelü Xinglao, and Director of Works junior supervisor Wang Quan to offer condolences. On guimao day of the third month associate regent of Nanjing Xiao Taliege was made Left yilibi and Tanggu, who administered Right yilibi affairs, was made Right yilibi. On bingwu day Xia State Li Liangzuo sent envoys presenting his father Yuanhao's bequeathed goods. On dingmao day Tiebudei State envoys came requesting to attack Xia State with their tribal army; permission was refused. On xinwei day of the fourth summer month Wuding Army military commissioner Du Fang again became Southern Court chancellor. On bingzi day Goryeo sent envoys with tribute. On jiashen day Pulumaoduo tribe great king Pujian presented shipwrights. On gengchen day of the sixth month Zubu presented twenty thousand horses and camels. On xinmao day Changbai Mountain grand preceptor Chaige and Huiba tribe grand preceptor Saladu came with tribute goods. On dingwei day of the seventh autumn month Boge, son of yuyue Momoyi, and Balu Eight Tribes' yilijin Hugu and others came to submit. On jiayin day prisoners were reviewed and mixed offenses of capital crime were reduced. On bingxu day of the eighth month rent and tax for Nanjing's poor households was again remitted. On wuzi day Palace Front commander Yelü Yixian was made campaign army supreme commander, Zhongshun Army military commissioner Xia Xingmei deputy commander, and Northeastern detail-stable Yelü Muzhe army supervisor to attack Puniuli chieftain Taodeli. On jiashen day of the tenth winter month Southern Court great king Yelü Hanba died. On jiawu day the court halted at Dulujin. On the yiwei new moon of the eleventh month envoys were dispatched to register horses. On dingsi day the Emperor's younger brother Chongyuan was granted a gold tally. Imperial sons were enfeoffed: Heluwo as Prince of Yue, Alian as Prince of Xu, Zhongshun Army military commissioner Xiejianu as Prince of Chen, Western Capital regent Tiebu as Prince of Han, tiyin Lüfen as Prince of Liaoxi, mobile palace deployment director Biegu as Prince of Liucheng, and Fengling Army military commissioner Hougu as Prince of Raole; Prince of Anding Nielugu was advanced to Prince of Chu.

On jihai day Northern Court associate privy commissioner Xiao Weixin was dispatched to inform Song of the campaign against Xia. On xinchou day prisoners were reviewed. On bingwu day the court went to Yuanyang Marsh. On bingchen day the court hunted at Bate Mountain. Yelü Yixian memorialized victory over Puniuli. On gengchen day of the second month the court visited Prince of Yan and Zhao Hongji's tent to inquire after his illness. On yiyou day Yelü Yixian and others presented the captured Taodeli. On yisi day of the third month Gaochang sent envoys with tribute. On renzi day, because Hongji's illness had recovered, amnesty was granted for mixed offenses from capital crime downward. On dingsi day Wugu sent envoys submitting allegiance. On guiyou day of the fourth summer month Southern Court chancellor Yelü Gaoshi was made Nanjing supreme commander. On chou day prisoners were reviewed. On bingyin day the ritual of the twelve spirit banners was performed. On jisi day, because Liao troops attacked Xia, Song sent Qian Yi with condolence gifts. On gengchen day Zubu presented horses, camels, and precious curios. On xinsi day Xia State envoys came with tribute and were detained without being sent back. On dinghai day the rebirth ritual was performed. On wuxu day of the seventh autumn month the Emperor personally campaigned. On the xinyou new moon of the eighth month the army crossed the river. Xia troops fled, and the army returned. On dingwei day of the ninth month Xiao Hui and others were defeated by Xia troops. In the tenth winter month Northern Route campaign supreme commander Yelü Dilugu led Zubu armies to Helan Mountain, captured Li Yuanhao's wife and his officials' families; when three thousand Xia troops came to fight, they were annihilated; Wugu Dilie tribe detail-stable Xiao Cishinu and Nankge Yelü Wol died in battle. On wuyin day of the twelfth month trees at Qing Mausoleum caught fire. On jimao day prisoners were reviewed. There was a case of a younger brother and a cousin elder brother who were bandits; both brothers were without sons, and the younger brother was specially pardoned.

In the nineteenth year, on gengyin day of the first spring month monk Huijian was promoted acting Grand Master of Inspection. On gengzi day Yelü Dilugu was again enfeoffed Prince of Qishui; various generals and Zubu tribal chieftains each advanced in rank by degree. Xiao Cishinu was posthumously honored as Associate Councilor of State. On xinchou day envoys were dispatched to demand accountability from Xia State. On renyin day the court went to Yuer Marsh. On dinghai day of the second month Xia generals Wapu, Wohe, and Yilingji attacked Jinsu City; Southern Court linya Yelü Gaojianu and others defeated them. Wapu was wounded and fled; Wohe and Yilingji were killed. On wuxu day of the third month Palace Front commander Xiao Dielide fought Xia at Sanjiao River and defeated them. On guimao day Southwest pacification commissioner Xiao Punu, Northern Court great king Yixin, linya Xiao Samo, and others were ordered to lead troops against Xia, with mobile palace deployment director Biegu supervising the campaign. On jiachen day associate Northern Court privy commissioner Xiao Ge was dispatched to inspect troops at the border cities as a supporting force. On jiyou day the court halted at Xijidian. On bingchen day the court visited Palace Front commander Xiao Dielide and imperial son-in-law Xiao Hudu's tents to inquire after their illnesses. On bingyin day of the fourth summer month the court went to Yuer Marsh. On renshen day Pulumaoduo tribe tiyin Xindu came with tribute. On jiashen day Goryeo sent envoys with tribute. On renshen day an edict forbade physicians, diviners, butchers, peddlers, slaves, and those who had served as substitute parents or fled after offenses from taking the jinshi examination. Huiba, Hesuguan, and Pulumaoduo tribes each sent envoys presenting horses. On jiaxu day Song sent envoys to congratulate the victory over Xia; Goryeo envoys also arrived. On xinsi day the jinshi examination was held in the Golden Hall. On renchen day of the seventh autumn month the court halted at Kuolipuwan. On guisi day Prince of Yan and Zhao Hongji was made head of the Southern and Northern Privy Councils. On gengwu day of the tenth winter month the court returned to the Supreme Capital. On xinwei day Li Liangzuo's mother in Xia State sent envoys begging to resume vassal status as before. When the envoys returned, an edict instructed them to send another trusted minister to the court separately; the matter would be considered at leisure. On renshen day convict laborers of Linhuang Prefecture were released. On jiaxu day the court went to Zhonghuichuan. On jiawu day of the eleventh month Zubu chieftain Huedela sent envoys with tribute. On gengxu day prisoners were reviewed. On renzi day Southern Court chancellor Han Zhibai was dismissed as Wuding Army military commissioner, associate privy commissioner Yang Ji as Changning Army military commissioner, Hanlin academician Wang Gang as prefect of Ze, Zhang You as prefect of Hui, and drafting edict commissioner Zhou Bai as prefect of Haibei. In the intercalary month, on yimao day, Prince of Han Tiebu was made regent of the Central Capital. On xinwei day associate Northern Court privy commissioner Xiao Ge was made Southern Court privy commissioner; Southern Court great king Yelü Renxian was appointed to administer Northern Court privy affairs and enfeoffed Prince of Song. On dinghai day of the twelfth month Northern Court chancellor and Prince of Zhao Xiao Xiaoyou was dismissed as Eastern Capital regent; Eastern Capital regent Xiao Taliege became Northern Court chancellor; Southern Court privy commissioner and Prince of Lu Chage became Southern Court great king. On gengxu day Prince of Han Xiao Hui was transferred to Prince of Wei and retired. On renzi day Xia State Li Liangzuo sent envoys presenting a memorial begging to resume subject status as before.

On jiashen day of the second month former Northern Court inspector-general Xiao Youkuo and others were dispatched as envoys to Xia State to demand Tangut rebel households. On jichou day the court went to Canger Marsh. On jiachen day Tibet sent envoys with tribute. On the renzi new moon of the third month the court visited Heishui. On guichou day of the fifth summer month Xiao Youkuo and others returned from Xia; Li Liangzuo's mother memorialized begging to present horses, camels, cattle, and sheep as Tangut custom allowed. On jisi day Xia State sent envoys requesting Tanglong Post and begging to abandon fortified towns they had built; the court answered by edict. On bingxu day of the sixth month an edict ordered Li Yuanhao's wife captured earlier and Xia people captured before and after to be settled in Su Prefecture. Goods captured in the Xia campaign were sent by envoys as gifts to Song. In the seventh autumn month the court went to autumn mountains. In the ninth month an edict ordered regulations to be revised anew. The court halted at Zhonghuichuan. On the jimao new moon of the tenth winter month military rolls in all circuits were registered. On gengshen day of the eleventh month tiyin inspector-general Xiao Molu was made Left yilibi. On jiazi day the Eastern Capital regent's office was ordered to oversee Household and Inner Court affairs in general. On dingmao day the censor's office of recording officials' offenses was abolished; drafting edict commissioners were ordered to oversee it in general. On yiyou day of the twelfth month, because the Empress Dowager performed the rebirth ritual, a general amnesty was proclaimed.

On guimao day of the fourth summer month imperial maternal uncle detail-stable Xiao Ala was made Northwest Route pacification commissioner and enfeoffed Prince of Xiping. On bingzi day of the sixth month the court halted at Yongan Mountain. On the jiachen new moon of the seventh autumn month Northern Court chancellor Xiao Taliege, Southern Court chancellor Prince of Han Tiebu, Southern Court privy commissioner Xiao Ge, and Renxian, who administered Northern Court privy affairs, were summoned; they were granted seats and discussed the ways of governing ancient and modern times. On wushen day Heaven and Earth were sacrificed to. On jiyou day an edict ordered the Northern and Southern Privy Councils to memorialize twice daily. On renzi day Taizu's grandfather was posthumously honored as Emperor Jianxian, temple name Xuanzu, and his grandmother as Empress Jianxian; Taizu's father was honored as Emperor Xuanjian, temple name Dezu, and his mother as Empress Xuanjian. Taizu's paternal uncle yilijin Yanmu was posthumously enfeoffed Prince of Shu and yuyue Shilu Prince of Sui. Prince of Yan and Zhao Hongji was made grand marshal of all armies and horses under Heaven and administrator of tiyin affairs, and granted an edict of instruction. On guihai day attendant junior attendant Lu Baofei forged the imperial hand; death was remitted and he was sentenced to corvée for life. On jiazi day the court went to autumn mountains. On wuchen day the court paid respects at Qing Mausoleum. Southern Court privy commissioner Xiao Ge was made Northern Court privy commissioner and enfeoffed Prince of Wu. On xinwei day the court went to Qing Prefecture. On renshen day Taizu's younger brother Yindishi was posthumously enfeoffed Prince of Xu. On wuzi day of the eighth month Grand Master of War Wuzhe died; an edict ordered him to share sacrifice in Shengzong's temple. On yimao day of the ninth month Ping Prefecture presented a white hare. On jiwei day the court paid respects at Huai Mausoleum. On gengshen day honorific titles were posthumously advanced for the Shangsi Sage Emperor and the Tianshun Emperor, and Empress Zhangde's posthumous title was changed to Jing'an. On guihai day the posthumous title for Empress Qitian was changed to Empress Rende. On jiazi day the court paid respects at the ancestral mausoleum. Taizu's honorific was increased to Great Sage, Great Brightness, Divine Martyr, Heavenly Emperor; Empress Zhenlie's title was changed to Chunqin; Emperor Gongshun to Zhangsu; and Empress Xiao's title to Hejing. On wuyin day of the tenth winter month the court halted at Zhonghuichuan. On dinghai day Xia State Li Liangzuo sent envoys begging relaxation of border defenses; Xiao Youkuo was immediately dispatched to convey the edict of instruction. On wuzi day the court visited Xian and Yi prefectures. On jiawu day Liaoxing Army military commissioner Xiao Xulie was enfeoffed Prince of Zheng; Southern Court great king and Prince of Lu Chage was made Southern Court privy commissioner and advanced to Prince of Yue. On wuxu day tigers were shot at Nansagebo. On xinchou day the court paid respects at Qian Mausoleum. On the renyin new moon of the eleventh month Emperor Wenxian's honorific was advanced to Emperor Wenxian, Qinyi, and posthumous titles for the two empresses to Duanshun and Rouzhen. Shizong's Empress Xiaolie posthumous title was again changed to Huaijie. On dingwei day Emperor Xiaocheng's honorific was advanced to Emperor Xiaocheng, Kangjing, and Empress Shengshen, Xuanxian posthumous title was changed to Ruizhi. On jiazi day the court halted at Zhonghuichuan. Uighur Asalan sent envoys presenting famous horses and literary leopards. On bingyin day prisoners were reviewed. On wuxu day of the twelfth month Northern Court chancellor Taliege was made Nanjing supreme commander, Prince of Zheng Xulie Northern Court chancellor, and Khitan mobile palace deployment director Yelü Yixian tiyin. Convict laborers whose term limit had expired were released.

On wuzi day of the fourth summer month the court hunted at Hedan. On renyin day of the fifth month an edict ordered inland prefectures and counties to plant fruit trees. On renshen day of the sixth month the court halted at Hulü Mountain. On guimao day Goryeo sent envoys with tribute. On jiyou day of the seventh autumn month Zubu great king Tutugu led various tribal chiefs presenting horses and camels. On gengshen day the court went to Heiling. In the intercalary month, on gengwu day, Wugu came with tribute. On guisi day the Money and Silks Office was established at Changchun Prefecture. On renchen day of the ninth month Xia State Li Liangzuo sent envoys presenting a surrender memorial. On jiawu day Southern Court linya Gaojianu and others were dispatched to convey the edict and offer reassurance. On the bingshen new moon of the tenth winter month there was a solar eclipse. On xinmao day of the eleventh month an edict ordered that when officials of all posts received successors by ritual or left office for crimes, registers were to be kept and reported yearly to the Privy Council. On the bingchen new moon of the twelfth month an edict ordered Uighur tribal deputy commissioners to be filled by Khitan persons. On gengzi day, the Responding Sage Festival, a partial amnesty was granted for offenses at or below convict labor. On renzi day an edict to great ministers said: "I and the Song ruler are pledged as brothers; our friendship has lasted many years. I wish to see his painted likeness; you may instruct the incoming envoys."

On yihai day the court paid respects at Qing Mausoleum. On renyin day Goryeo king Hui requested official rank for his son; an edict ordered promotion to acting Grand Master of War. On dingyou day of the tenth winter month the court halted at the Central Capital. On wuxu day the court visited the newly built Directorate of the Imperial Library. On xinchou day rites were performed at the ancestral temple. On guichou day, because silver Buddha images were cast at Kaitai Temple, a partial amnesty was granted for prisoners in the capital. On bingchen day Li Liangzuo sent envoys presenting an oath memorial. On yichou day of the eleventh month Zubu tribal chiefs came with tribute. On renshen day the Emperor led the ministers in presenting the Empress Dowager the honorific title Benevolent, Sagely, Pious, Filial, Broadly Virtuous, Tranquil, Pure, Gracious, Harmonious, Generous, Reverent, Awakened, Ceremonious, Heavenly Empress Dowager, and proclaimed a great amnesty. Inner and outer officials advanced in rank by degree. On guimao day prisoners were reviewed. On jiashen day the ministers presented the Emperor the honorific title Revering Heaven, Upholding the Way, Protecting the Age, Raising the Calendar, Martially Settling, Literaryly Accomplished, Sagely, Spiritually Benevolent, Filial Emperor, and invested Empress Xiao with the title Chaste, Gracious, Kind, Harmonious, Cultured, Favorable, Reverent, Filial, Broadly Loving, Chong, Sagely Empress. On bingshen day of the twelfth month the court went to Zhonghuichuan.
