On the dingmao new moon of the ninth month Jurchen troops captured Huanglong Prefecture. On jisi day Northern Court privy commissioner Xiao Delidi went out as Southwest Route pacification commissioner. Cici returned; the Jurchen again sent Saisi with a letter reporting that if our rebels Ashu and others were returned they would withdraw the army. The emperor personally campaigned. Nianhan, Wushu, and others sent a letter up; outwardly humble and mournful words, in truth seeking battle. When the letter arrived the emperor was angry and issued an edict with the words "The Jurchen have committed offenses; the great army shall cut them down." The Jurchen lord gathered the masses, faced heaven, and wept aloud, saying, "When I first raised troops with you it was because we suffered under Khitan cruelty and wished to establish our own state. Now the sovereign personally campaigns — what is to be done? Unless men fight to the death none can withstand him. Better to kill my whole clan; you welcome surrender and turn misfortune into fortune. All the armies said, "Things have come to this; we obey your command. On yisi day Yelü Zhangnu rebelled, fled to the Supreme Capital, and plotted to welcome Prince of Wei Chun to the throne. The emperor sent imperial son-in-law Xiao Yu leading troops to Guangping Marsh to guard the empress and consorts; mobile palace attendant Yixin bore a letter at full gallop to report to Prince of Wei. At that time Zhangnu had first sent the consort's younger brother Xiao Dili to explain the plot to Prince of Wei. The prince said, "This is no small matter; the sovereign has his own princes who should be enthroned; Northern and Southern Court great ministers have not come — yet you speak of this — how so? He secretly ordered attendants to seize him. Shortly after, Yixin and others' imperial missive arrived, fully stating Zhangnu and others' plot to depose and enthrone. Prince of Wei at once beheaded Xiao Dili and others' heads to present; alone on horseback by a hidden path he went to Guangping Marsh to await punishment. The emperor received him as at first. Zhangnu, learning Prince of Wei would not listen, led his followers to plunder Qing, Rao, Huai, Zu, and other prefectures, joined Bohai bandits, and when his force reached tens of thousands hastened to Guangping Marsh to attack the mobile palace. Shunguo Jurchen Ahechan with three hundred horsemen won in a single battle, captured more than two hundred of their nobles, and beheaded them all to display. Their wives and children were assigned to the embroidery office or dispersed among close attendants as maidservants; the rest who escaped all fled to the Jurchen. Zhangnu pretended to be an envoy and wished to flee to the Jurchen; border guards seized him, bound him, and sent him to the imperial camp; he was cut at the waist in the market, his heart cut out and offered at the ancestral temple, and his limbs displayed on the Five Routes.
