三年春，盜馬進掠臨淮縣，王宣要其妻曹氏避之，曹曰：“我聞婦人死不出閨房。” In the spring of the third year the bandit Ma Jin raided Linhuai County. Wang Xuan asked his wife Cao to flee with him, but Cao said: "I have heard that a virtuous woman does not leave her chamber even in death."

賊至，宣避之，曹堅臥不起。 When the bandits arrived, Xuan fled, but Cao lay firm in bed and would not rise.
