少府徐仁即丞相車千秋女婿也，故千秋數為侯史吳言。 Xu Ren was the son-in-law of Chancellor Che Qianqiu, who repeatedly interceded for Houshi Wu.

恐光不聽，千秋即召中二千石、博士會公車門，議問吳法。 Fearing Huo Guang would not relent, Che Qianqiu called a conference at the public carriage gate of every official from two thousand piculs down and the court erudits to debate how Wu should be charged.

明日，千秋封上眾議，光於是以千秋擅召中二千石以下，外內異言，遂下延尉平、少府仁獄。 The next day the chancellor forwarded their unanimous opinion. Huo Guang, furious that Che Qianqiu had convened a quasi-judicial assembly without authorization, had Wang Ping and Xu Ren thrown into prison.

群下言雚嘩，庶人私議，流言四布，延年竊重將軍失此名於天下也！」 Murmurs are rising from every quarter. I would hate to see Your Lordship's good name tarnished throughout the realm for prosecuting Che Qianqiu!"

會丞相車千秋死，先是千秋子為雒陽武庫令，自見失父，而相治郡嚴，恐久獲罪，乃自免去。 When Chancellor Che Qianqiu died, his son—who had been director of the Luoyang armory—feared that under Wei Xiang’s strict rule he might eventually be charged with some fault, and resigned without waiting to be dismissed.

相獨恨曰：「大將軍聞此令去官，必以為我用丞相死不能遇其子。 Wei Xiang brooded alone: ‘If Grand General Huo Guang learns the chancellor’s son has quit, he will think that on account of the chancellor’s death I failed to treat his son properly.
