晉驃騎將軍溫嶠有三夫人，嶠薨，詔問學官陳舒。 Jin General of Agile Cavalry Wen Qiao had three wives; when Qiao died, an edict asked the scholar-official Chen Shu.

舒謂秦、漢之後，廢一娶九女之制，妻卒更娶，無復繼室，生既加禮，亡不應貶。 Shu said that after Qin and Han, the system by which one marriage took nine women had been abolished; when a wife died and another was married, there was no longer a “successor wife.” Since rites had been added for her in life, she should not be demoted in death.

禮官韋公肅議與舒同。 The ritual official Wei Gongsu’s opinion was the same as Shu’s.
