又張讓等使人潛聽，具聞其語，乃率常侍段珪、畢嵐等數十人，持兵竊自側闥入，伏省中。 Zhang Rang had listeners who caught every word; he and Duan Gui, Bi Lan, and dozens of others armed themselves, slipped in through a side door, and hid inside.

讓、珪等為詔，以故太尉樊陵為司隸校尉，少府許相為河南尹。 Zhang Rang, Duan Gui, and the others forged an edict appointing the former Grand Commandant Fan Ling as Metropolitan Commandant and the Minister of the Lesser Treasury Xu Xiang as Governor of Henan.

尚書盧植執戈於閣道窗下，仰數段珪。 Lu Zhi of the secretariat stood under the gallery with a halberd and shouted up at Duan Gui.

段珪等懼，乃釋太后。 Duan Gui and the others lost their nerve and let the empress dowager go.

張讓、段珪等困迫，遂將帝與陳留王數十人步出穀門，奔小平津。 Cornered, Zhang Rang and Duan Gui fled on foot through the Grain Gate toward Little Ping Ford with the emperor, the Prince of Chenliu, and a few dozen followers.

其后進欲誅廢中官，爲中常侍張讓、段珪等所殺，兵戰宫中闕下，更相誅滅，天下兵大起。 When He Jin moved against the eunuchs, Zhang Rang and Duan Gui killed him; battle raged at the palace gates, factions slaughtered one another, and war engulfed the empire.

案到中平六年，史侯登蹑至尊，獻帝未有爵號，爲中常侍段珪等數十人所執，公卿百官皆随其后，到河上，乃得來還。 In Zhongping 6 Marquis Shi mounted the supreme seat; Emperor Xian still had no noble title. He was seized by palace attendant Duan Gui and several tens of others; the dukes, ministers, and all officials followed, and only when they reached the river could they return.
