陳乃立懷公之子越，是為湣公。 Chen then established Duke Huai's son Yue, who became Duke Min.

湣公六年，孔子適陳。 In the sixth year of Duke Min's reign, Confucius went to Chen.

十六年，吳王夫差伐齊，敗之艾陵，使人召陳侯。 In the sixteenth year, King Fuchai of Wu attacked Qi, defeated them at Ai Ling, and had people summon the lord of Chen.

陳侯恐，如吳。 The lord of Chen feared and went to Wu.

二十四年，楚惠王復國，以兵北伐，殺陳湣公，遂滅陳而有之。 In the twenty-fourth year, King Hui of Chu recovered his state and with troops attacked north, killed Duke Min of Chen, then destroyed Chen and took possession of it.
