神宗紹天法古運德建功英文烈武欽仁聖孝皇帝，諱頊，英宗長子，母曰宣仁聖烈皇后高氏。 Emperor Shenzong—full style from Continuing Heaven through Sagely Filial—personal name Xu, was Yingzong’s eldest son; his mother was Empress Xuanren, Lady Gao.

嘉祐八年，侍英宗入居慶甯宮，嘗夢神人捧之登天。 Jiayou 8: he entered Qingning Palace with Yingzong and dreamed a spirit bore him to Heaven.

英宗即位，授安州觀察使，封光國公。 At Yingzong’s accession he became An commissioner and Duke of Guangguo.

而天性好學，請問至日晏忘食，英宗常遣內侍止之。 He studied until he forgot meals; Yingzong often sent eunuchs to make him stop.
