其先鄭君嘗事項籍，籍死而屬漢。 His forebear Lord Zheng had served Xiang Yu; when Yu died he transferred his allegiance to Han.

高祖令諸故項籍臣名籍，鄭君獨不奉詔。 Gaozu ordered Xiang Yu's old retainers to refer to him by his personal name as a sign of submission; Lord Zheng alone refused the edict.

詔盡拜名籍者為大夫，而逐鄭君。 Those who obeyed were made grandees; Lord Zheng was banished.

鄭君死孝文時。 Lord Zheng died during the reign of Emperor Wen.

其先鄭君嘗為項籍將； His forebear, Lord Zheng, had once served as a general under Xiang Yu;

高祖令諸故項籍臣名籍，鄭君獨不奉詔。 When Emperor Gaozu ordered all former officers of Xiang Yu to register their names, Lord Zheng alone refused to comply.

詔盡拜名籍者為大夫，而逐鄭君。 By imperial edict, all who had registered were appointed as Grandees, while Lord Zheng was driven into exile.

鄭君死孝文時。 Lord Zheng lived until the reign of Emperor Wen.
