Old History of the Five Dynasties, Chapter 49Volume 49 Book of Later Tang 25: Biographies 1: Empresses and Consorts · 4 passages
In the Changxing era, as the Princes of Qin and Song had risen in rank and prestige, Mingzong, reflecting on the duty of honoring one's mother, issued an edict: "The late Lady of Jin, Lady Xia, always promoted benevolence and long kept kin harmonious. She aided from within yet did not live to see restoration. When I took the throne and my sons were made princes, she had the magpie's nest yet not the pheasant robe. Her chaste soul has passed, but her excellent example endures. Following our dynasty's texts and the institutions of posthumous enfeoffment, I shall comfort the nine clans and hope to bring blessing to the four stars.
