以慕容麟為司空、領尚書令，慕容法為中軍將軍，慕輿拔為尚書左僕射，丁通為尚書右僕射，自余封授各有差。 He named Murong Lin minister of works and chief of the secretariat, Murong Fa central-army general, Yu Ba senior vice-president of the secretariat, Ding Tong junior vice-president, and distributed other posts accordingly.

德遣其中軍慕容法、撫軍慕容和等距之，王師敗績。 Murong De sent the Central Army commander Murong Fa, the Pacification General Murong He, and others to resist them, and the Jin army was routed.

德怒法不窮追晉師，斬其撫軍司馬靳瑰。 Murong De blamed Murong Fa for breaking off the pursuit of the Jin force and executed his Pacification Army major Jin Gui.

慕容法及魏師戰於濟北之摽榆俗，魏師敗績。 Murong Fa clashed with Wei north of Ji near Biaoyu and routed them.

以慕容鐘都督中外諸軍、錄尚書事，慕容法為征南、都督徐、兗、揚、南兗四州諸軍事，慕容鎮加開府儀同三司、尚書令，封孚為太尉，鞠仲為司空，潘聰為左光祿大夫，封嵩為尚書左僕射，自余封拜各有差。 He stacked the government with Murong Zhong, Murong Fa, Murong Zhen, Feng Fu, Ju Zhong, Pan Cong, Feng Song, and others in high posts.

初，超自長安行至梁父，慕容法時為兗州，鎮南長史悅壽還謂法曰：「向見北海王子，天資弘雅，神爽高邁，始知天族多奇，玉林皆寶。」 At first, when Chao traveled from Chang’an to Liangfu, Murong Fa then held Yan Province; the southern garrison chief clerk Yue Shou returned and said to Fa: “Just now I saw the prince of Beihai—his heaven-bestowed breadth is refined, his spirit lofty; only then did I know the celestial clan has many marvels, every tree of the jade grove a treasure.”

法曰：「昔成方遂詐稱衛太子，人莫辯之，此復天族乎？」 Fa said: “Anciently Cheng Fangsui falsely claimed to be Crown Prince Wei—no one could tell; is this again the celestial clan?”

法亦怒，處之外館，由是結憾。 Murong Fa housed him like a stranger; the feud hardened.

及德死，法又不奔喪，超遣使讓焉。 When Murong De died, Murong Fa again failed to attend the mourning rites, so Chao sent envoys to reproach him.

法常懼禍至，因此遂與慕容鐘、段宏等謀反。 Fearing payback, Murong Fa conspired with Murong Zhong and Duan Hong.

范並其眾，攻梁父克之，凝奔姚興，慕容法出奔于魏。 Han Fan took Liangfu; Murong Ning fled to Yao Xing; Murong Fa to Wei.
