河間邢杲反於青、兗之間，杲，蘭根之甥也，復詔蘭根銜命慰勞。 Xing Gao of Hejian rebelled between Qing and Yan. Gao was Langen's nephew by marriage, and again an edict ordered Langen to bear credentials and reassure him.

杲不下，仍隨元天穆討之。 Gao would not submit; Langen thereupon followed Yuan Tianmu to campaign against him.

元天穆討邢杲也，以琡為行臺尚書。 When Yuan Tianmu campaigned against Xing Gao, Chu was made mobile headquarters minister of the masters of writing.

議者咸以杲衆甚盛，宜先經略。 Those in council all said Xing's forces were very strong and should be dealt with first.

琡以為邢杲聚衆無名，雖強猶賊； Chu held that Xing Gao had gathered a crowd without legitimate cause; however strong, he was still a bandit;

杲鼠盜狗竊，非有遠志，宜先討顥。 Xing was a rat thief and dog pilferer, with no far-reaching ambition; Hao should be attacked first.

天穆以群情所欲，遂先討杲。 Tianmu, yielding to what the assembly wanted, attacked Xing first.

杲降軍還，顥遂入洛。 When Xing surrendered the army returned — and Hao then entered Luoyang.

三月，壬戌，魏詔上黨王天穆討邢杲，以費穆為前鋒大都督。 In the third month, on renxu, Wei ordered the Prince of Shangdang, Yuan Tianmu, to suppress Xing Gao, appointing Fei Mu grand commander of the vanguard.

魏元天穆將擊邢杲，以北海王顥方入寇，集文武議之，眾皆曰：「杲眾強盛，宜以為先。」 Yuan Tianmu of Wei was preparing to attack Xing Gao when word came that the Prince of Beihai, Yuan Hao, was raiding the borders; he convened civil and military officers for counsel, and all said, "Gao's forces are strong—we should strike him first."

行台尚書薛琡曰：「邢杲兵眾雖多，鼠竊狗偷，非有遠志。 The mobile-staff Director of the Imperial Secretariat, Xue Shu, said, "Xing Gao may field many men, but they are mere thieves and scavengers without distant ambition.

天穆以諸將多欲擊杲，又魏朝亦以顥為孤弱，不足慮，命天穆等先定齊地，還師擊顥，遂引兵東出。 Tianmu, since most commanders wanted to hit Gao and the Wei court likewise judged Hao isolated and negligible, ordered his forces first to pacify Qi and only then turn on Hao; he marched east.

辛丑，魏上黨王天穆及爾朱兆破邢杲於濟南，杲降，送洛陽，斬之。 On xinchou, the Wei Prince of Shangdang, Yuan Tianmu, and Erzhu Zhao routed Xing Gao at Ji'nan; Gao surrendered, was sent to Luoyang, and beheaded.
