誌寧自念夢兆：“非殺人者袁姓乎？” Zhining reflected on the dream: "Is not the killer surnamed Yuan?"

有門卒忽言張氏饋食之夫曰袁大，明日袁至，使吏執之，曰：“殺人者汝也。” A gate guard suddenly said the man who brought food to the Zhang household was called Yuan the Elder. The next day Yuan arrived; Li had him seized and said: "You are the killer."

袁色動，遽曰：“吾憐之久矣，願就死。” Yuan's expression changed; he quickly said: "I have long pitied her—I am willing to die."
