平章政事張萬公謂拜禮各便所習，不須改也，司空完顏襄曰：「今諸人衽發皆從本朝之制，宜從本朝拜禮，松言是也。」 Grand Councilor Zhang Wangong said each should use the bow convenient to what he is accustomed to and need not change; Minister of Works Wanyan Xiang said: "Now all people wear their hair according to our dynasty's regulation—they should follow the native-country court bow; Song's words are correct."

他日又謂參知政事張萬公曰：「山東風俗如何？」 Another day he asked Vice Director Zhang Wangong: 'How is Shandong custom?'

萬公對以奢，左丞守貞因言衣服之制，上曰：「如卿所言，正恐失人心耳。」 Wang replied that it was extravagant; Left Vice Director Shouzhen raised clothing regulations; the emperor said: 'As you say, I fear only losing hearts.'

萬公曰：「乞寬與之期，三年之內當如制矣。」 Wang said: 'Grant a generous deadline; within three years it should match the regulations.'

時方旱，命有司祈雨，襄及平章政事張萬公、參政僕散揆等上表待罪。 A drought was then afflicting the realm. The court ordered the relevant offices to pray for rain, and Xiang, together with Grand Chancellor Zhang Wangong, Vice Grand Chancellor Pusan Kui, and others submitted memorials accepting blame.
