昭宗世，以用度不足，易京畿近鎮麴法，復榷酒以贍軍，鳳翔節度使李茂貞方顓其利，按兵請入奏利害，天子遽罷之。 Under Zhaozong, the cash-strapped court altered yeast regulations near the capital and restored the wine monopoly to fund the army. Fengxiang Military Governor Li Maozhen, who had controlled the profits, held his troops in readiness and requested an audience to argue the policy's merits. The emperor immediately canceled it.

昭宗末，京師用錢八百五十為貫，每百纔八十五，河南府以八十為百云。 Late under Zhaozong the capital counted eight hundred fifty coins as a full string—only eighty-five per nominal hundred; Henan Prefecture reportedly used eighty as one hundred.
