In Daoguang 11, month 1, xinyou, Zhalong'a left office; Har'a and Yang Fang took charge at Kashgar. On yichou Rong'an was condemned to death. On bingzi Wei Yuanhuang became Fujian governor. Korea's King Li Xi asked to enfeoff grandson Huan as heir-apparent grandson and sent tribute. That month eight disaster districts including Pei, Wuhu, and Fuyang received ration grain. Disaster loans of grain, repair funds, and seed went to Sanxing, Shuangcheng Bao, nine Zhili districts, two Hunan counties, Wu'an, and five Gansu counties. Jilin and three other districts had old and new taxes remitted or deferred.

In month 2, jichou, the Emperor attended the classics lecture. On xinmao, for the Western Tombs visit, Yishao and others stayed in Beijing to govern. Nayancheng lost Grand Guardian of the Heir Apparent for expelling Andijan Muslims and provoking trouble; son Rongzhao lost vice minister rank. On weimo Nayancheng was dismissed; Qishan became Zhili governor-general with Wang Ding acting. Eshan took Sichuan with Nayanchengbao acting; Shi Pu took Shaanxi. On wuxu all provinces were again forbidden to grow or sell opium. On xinchou the Emperor visited the Western Tombs. On yisi he visited Tailing, Taidongling, and Changling. He inspected the eternal tomb site and named it Longquan Yu. On bingwu he again visited Changling and performed the earth-spreading rite. At Long'en Hall he held the great feast rite. That month Jingmen garrison troops flooded the year before received lent grain stores.

In month 3, guichou new moon, Yinghe and sons Kuizhao and Kuiyao were freed to return to Beijing. Li rebels rose in Guangdong; Li Hongbin was sent to suppress them. On xinyou British traders in Guangdong broke the ban; Li Hongbin and others were ordered to investigate. That month Hubei governor and governor banners and Wuchang and Huangzhou garrisons received lent grain stores.

In summer, month 4, wuzi, the Emperor reviewed Jianrui Camp troops. On guimao the Emperor prayed for rain at the Black Dragon Pool shrine. Guangdong Li bandits were pacified.

In month 5, bingyin, Tang Jinzhao was demoted and lost his Upper Study chief tutorship. Pan Shien took personnel; Zhu Shiyan works; Bai Rong the left censorate. On wuchen Changling was sent to Kashgar to handle suppression, pacification, and aftermath. On xinwei it rained.

In month 6, bingshen, penalties for officials and commoners buying and smoking opium were fixed. On jihai twenty-five Anhui districts including Sizhou received flood relief. On gengxu twenty flooded Hubei districts including Mianyang had fair-price grain sales and transit rice taxes waived. That month nine flooded Jiangsu districts including Shangyuan received ration grain. Flood-hit Huai'anwei tun settlements in Jiangsu received lent seed grain.

In autumn, month 7, wuwu, Tao Shu and Cheng Zuluo were ordered to handle Jiangsu disaster relief. For Anhui floods Deng Tingzhen could buy neighboring grain for fair sale and army rations. On guiyou Zhalong'a was condemned for falsely charging Muslim king Isa with rebellion. On xinwei the Xinjiang resident minister and Hotan brigade commander moved to Yarkand; a commander was added at Barkul. On jimao Muzhang'a and Zhu Shiyan were sent to Jiangnan to investigate relief. That month Wuling and four other Hunan districts, Tongzi, and Shixian guard received ration grain. Six Jiangsu garrisons including Jiangning received lent disaster pay.

In month 8, jichou, longevity day, the Emperor paid respects at the Empress Dowager's palace. At the Hall of Supreme Harmony princes, officials, Mongol nobles, and foreign envoys congratulated; no banquet was held. On xinmao Changling became Grand Preceptor. On weimo Songyun left for illness; Muzhang'a took war and Fujun works. Boqitu took the Colonial Affairs ministry. On xinchou Siam's envoy returned storm-stranded interior subjects to Guangdong and received warm praise and reward. On guimao Baochang became Rehe commander. Wu Rongguang became Hunan governor. That month eleven Jiangsu, sixteen Hubei, and twenty Jiangxi flood districts received ration grain and seed. Jiangnan's Jiangning garrison and Liyang Camp received lent rice.

In month 9, jiazi, Fukejing'a lost office over an affair; Baoxing became Jilin general. On dingchou Vietnam's envoy returned storm victims to Fujian and received warm praise and reward.

In winter, month 10, Yan Yan left for illness; Lin Zexu became Hedong river conservancy governor-general. On jichou Kashgar's assistant post became brigade commander. On weimo eighty thousand shi of Jiangxi tribute grain were held back for Nanchang and Jiujiang famine relief. That month floods were relieved in twenty-three Anhui, twenty-six Jiangsu, seven Zhejiang, and six Lianghuai salt districts. Tongcheng and nine other Anhui districts, five Hunan counties, and Dehua received ration grain and repair funds. Eighteen Gansu districts including Gaolan received lent grain; Wuling and Longyang received dyke repair funds.

In month 11, bingchen, Grand Secretary Tuojin left for illness. Wu Bangqing became grain transport governor-general. On jisi Songyun lost inner grand minister rank, took third-rank top, and retired. That month Tieling and four other Fengtian districts and four Juliu River places received lent grain; six Jiangxi counties including Nanchang received dyke funds. Ningguta and Shuangcheng Bao had hail and frost taxes remitted or deferred.

In month 12, yiyou, Fujun became grand secretary over War; Wen Fu became associate grand secretary. Muzhang'a took works. Na Qing'an took war; Sheng Yin the left censorate; Yande became Suiyuan City general. On yisi Wu Bangqing took Jiangxi and Su Chenge grain transport. That month sixteen flooded Hubei districts including Jiangxia received extended relief. Twenty-five Jiangsu districts including Shangyuan and fifteen Dingxi salt fields received flood ration grain. Twenty-seven Jiangsu garrisons including Zhenjiang and Changde and Lizhou camps received lent flood pay.

In Daoguang 12, month 1, xinyou, commercial ship rice tax was waived for Hangzhou and two other Zhejiang prefectures. On dingmao Chen Ruolin left office; Dai Dunyuan acted at Punishments. On guiyou Wang Yinzhi mourned; Wang Shouhe took rites. That month twenty-one Anhui districts including Huaining were relieved for flood and drought; seventeen including Huaining received poor relief grain. Disaster grain and seed loans went to victims in Zhili, Henan, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Gansu, and Guizhou.

In month 2, wuyin, Yao rebel Zhao Jinlong rose in Jianghua; Lu Kun and others were sent to suppress him. On jimao the Emperor attended the classics lecture. On jiashen Liang Zhongjing attacked wrongful sect prosecutions and was rebuked by edict. On xinmao Zhong Chang was demoted and transferred. Dai Dunyuan took Punishments. On weimo Sun Erzhun died; Cheng Zuluo took Fujian-Zhejiang, Lin Zexu Jiangsu, Wu Bangqing Hedong river works, Zhou Zhiqi Jiangxi. On bingshen Li Hongbin was sent to suppress the Yao bandits. On renyin, for the Eastern Tombs visit, Yishao and others stayed in Beijing to govern.

In month 3, jiyou, Hailing'a and Ma Tao fought Yao bandits at Ningyuan, lost, and were killed. On renzi the Emperor visited the Eastern Tombs and cut route taxes by thirty percent. On yimao he visited Zhaoxiling, Xiaoling, Xiaodongling, Jingling, and Yuling. On bingchen Husong'e was summoned; Yihao acted as Shengjing general. On jiwei the Emperor hunted at the Southern Park. On gengshen Changling was summoned. On guihai the Emperor returned to Beijing. On gengwu Xi'en was sent to Hunan against the Yao bandits; Wen Fu acted at Revenue. That month Jiangxia and Hanchuan received extended flood relief. Qingyang disaster victims received ration grain. Gaolan and six other Gansu districts, five Qianzhou-area Hunan tun districts, and flooded Hubei banners and Wuchang garrison received disaster loans.

On yisi Lu Kun routed Yao bandits at Yangquan, killed them all, and took Zhao Jinlong's son and over fifty chiefs. That month Yangzhou flood victims in Jiangsu received more granary grain.

On renzi, with Zhao Jinlong dead and rebels pacified, Lu Kun and Luo Siju won peacock plumes and hereditary ranks, and Yu Buyun became Junior Guardian of the Heir Apparent. On yimao Yin Laoxu and other sect rebels were executed. On gengshen the Emperor prayed for rain at the Black Dragon Pool shrine. On wuchen the Emperor prayed for rain at the Heavenly Spirit Altar. On jisi punishments was ordered to clear routine prison cases. That month Datong and two other Shanxi counties received lent granary grain after disaster.

On guisi the Emperor walked to the Square Mound for rain prayers. On yiwei Fujun asked to resign citing drought. The request was denied. On bingshen Kokand sent envoys and returned captured Kashgar Muslims. On dingyou Songyun regained his first-rank hat ornament. On guimao the Emperor walked from the fasting palace to the Circular Mound for the great rain ritual. Rain fell that day. On jiachen Xi'en and Husong'e were sent from Hunan to Guangdong against the Yao. That month flood-hit Huai'anwei tun settlements in Jiangsu received lent seed grain.

In month 7, dingwei, Rong'an was pardoned and sent to exile in Jilin. On wushen Zhong Chang became Kobdo deputy commissioner. Cheng Zuluo was ordered to reform Zhejiang salt affairs. Tawake and other Khotan rebels were captured and executed. On yichou Guangxi Yao rebels led by Pan Junhua were pacified by Qi. That month Fujian's Penghu was relieved after a typhoon. Tianmen county in Hubei received ration grain for flood victims.

In month 8 Tao Shu reported British ships in inner waters again and urged stern punishment if they disobeyed. The court rebuked Tao Shu for provocation and rejected the idea. On jiawu Li Hongbin was dismissed and Liu Rongqing was arrested for inquiry. Lu Kun became governor-general of the Two Guang. Ruan Yuan became associate grand secretary and kept Yunnan-Guizhou. Na'erjing'e took Huguang and Zhong Xiang took Shandong. That month Shuozhou in Shanxi was relieved after flooding. Last year's disaster taxes were remitted or deferred for twenty-nine places in Anhui including Huaining.

On the 1st of month 9, jiachen, Yin Jiyuan became Shanxi governor. On bingwu thieves breached the Longwo dike; Muzhang'a and Tao Shu were to investigate, and Zhang Jing was demoted but kept. On dingwei English ships in inner waters led to orders to tighten coastal naval forces. On jiayin Te Yishunbao became Ili general. On wuwu the Lianzhou Yao in Guangdong were pacified. Zhao Fujin and other Hunan Yao leaders were executed. That month seven counties and guards including Taoyuan and Tianmen received flood rations. Shanyin county in Shanxi received lent granary grain after a poor harvest.

In intercalary month 9, dinghai, the Emperor inspected Jianrui Camp troops. On renyin the court praised Korea's King Li Xi for refusing British trade. That month ten Zhili prefectures and counties including Fuping were relieved. Flood victims in seven Henan places including Xiangfu and Xing'an in Shaanxi received lent rations. Drought-hit troops at Qiqihar and elsewhere received lent silver and grain.

In month 10, yisi, bandits in Qujiang and Ruyuan in Guangdong were suppressed. On bingwu Zhu Shiyan and Jingzheng were sent to Jiangnan on investigation. On yichou Muzhang'a was sent to Hubei with Na'erjing'e to investigate. That month flood and drought relief went to Wuqiao and Dongguang in Zhili, Taoyuan and others in Jiangsu, Hankou and others in Hubei, Wuhe in Anhui, and Banpu and other salt fields. Haizhou and three other Jiangsu places, eleven Anhui places including Wuhe, two Hunan counties, and Fengtian banner people under Jizhou received rations. Datong garrison troops in the disaster zone received lent granary grain. Disaster taxes were remitted or deferred across Zhili, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Lianghuai salt fields, Hunan, Shanxi, and Hubei in long lists of affected places.

In month 11, wuyin, Husong'e became Imperial Commissioner for Taiwan with Har'a as deputy. On bingshen 10,000 shi of Beijing granary rice went to eight Shuntian counties including Wuqing. On dingyou Li Hongbin was exiled to Urumqi and Liu Rongqing to Ili. That month Hanzhong and other Shaanxi areas, Yihe in Gansu, and seven places including Jilin received lent rations or seed. Yihe county's rent arrears in Gansu were remitted or deferred.

In month 12, jiachen, 200,000 shi of Zhejiang and Jiangxi granary grain were sent to Fujian. On bingwu Lu Yinpu took leave and Wang Ding supervised punishments. On jisi Xiao Shundai became Kobdo deputy commissioner. That month Zhili disaster-zone troops and six Shanxi places including Fengzhen received lent pay or grain.

That month seven Zhili places including Jizhou were relieved. Poor people in five Shaanxi areas including Hanzhong received lent granary grain.

On bingshen Lu Kun reported capturing Vietnamese pirates including Chen Jiahai and securing the seas. On wuxu Lin Qing became Jiangnan Canal director-general. E Shun'an became Hubei governor. On gengzi rain fell. That month Zhili, Fengtian, and five Hunan places including Qianzhou received lent grain for troops and tenants.

Zhu Shiyan became Minister of Personnel. Bai Rong took works and Tang Jinzhao became left censor-in-chief. On yimao Kashgar and Yarkand quota tribute for Daoguang 11-12 was remitted. On jisi Empress Tonggiya died. That month Yizhou troops in Fengtian and civilians and Yao at Xintian in Hunan received lent rice or seed.

On jiawu, ten Yunnan districts including Kunming lost this year's taxes after the earthquake and received relief. That month, six Jiangsu counties including Shangyuan received flood relief.

On dingchou, Burma's tribute envoy Nie Niuyegongnaya died in Beijing. On gengchen, Li rebels rose in Danzhou, Guangdong, and Lu Kun was sent to suppress them. On jiashen, Zhejiang disaster led to remission of rice transit duties for foreign merchants and Zhejiang shippers. Fujian bandits in Yong'an and elsewhere who kidnapped for ransom were captured and punished. Hangzhou and Huzhou tribute grain could mix red and white grain and both indica and japonica rice. On dinghai, Pan Shien was placed above ordinary Grand Councilors on the Council. On wuzi, three-year review recorded Changlin and others for promotion. Songyun retired with commandant rank. Qi reported Lang Son relieved; Ruan Wenquan of Qiquan Yizhou and others asked to cross the border and were refused. That month, Quyang's poor received relief. Last year's failed harvests in eight Jiangsu counties, four Zhejiang districts, and twenty-two Jiangxi counties received ration and seed grain. Last year's disasters in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, and Gansu districts received granary, ration, and seed loans.

On gengxu, for the Western Tombs visit, Yishao and others stayed in Beijing to govern. On renzi, Kaiyinbu was sent to investigate Uliastai affairs. Suletong'a acted at Chahar. On xinyou, Zhu Shiyan mourned out; Tang Jinzhao took Personnel, Wang Shouhe Works, Shi Zhiyan Rites, and He Linghan the left censorate. On yichou, Grand Secretary Fujun died. That month, eight Jiangsu counties and guards including Shangyuan received last year's disaster rations. Guizhou's Guzhou Department received a seed loan for last year's disaster.

On yiyou, Khalkha pasture disaster led to approval of Kaiyinbu's request to defer border surveys. Last year's taxes were remitted for three Sichuan districts including Qingxi and the Ningyue and Yuexi garrisons.

On wuxu, Leting's water-washed official land rents were abolished. On dingwei, Prince of Yi Commandery Mianzhi died. On jiayin, the Emperor mourned at Prince of Yishun Mianzhi's house. His son Yiyin became beile. On dingsi, Zhao Shengkui and Yan Huang joined Funiyang'a to survey Zhejiang seawalls. On xinyou, Su Qing'a became Ili councilor-assistant. On jiazi, the Emperor held the first anniversary rite at Tiancun for Xiaoshen Empress. That month, twelve Shanxi districts including Yueyang received granary loans for poor harvests in civilian colonies.

On gengyin, Qufu's Confucian forest and temple were repaired. On jiawu, Dorji Labutan and others were told to follow old rules in Russian dealings. That month, Huai'an and Dahe guards received seed loans for poor harvests.

Four Taiwan-troubled Fujian counties and Tamsui confiscated rebel rents were remitted. On renshen, Te Yishunbao and others were to settle frontier patrol rules. Cheng Zuluo reported foreign pirate Liu Si and others captured and executed. On jiaxu, Sichuan Qianbian branch Yi rebelled; Husong'e, Yang Fang, and others were sent to handle it. Jiangxi flood victims received relief. On bingzi, Boqitu died; Qiying took Works, Sheng Yin Rites, and Jingzheng the left censorate. On renwu, Guiliang became Henan governor. On wuzi, the Yellow River broke at Zhujiawan on the Eastern River. That month, thirteen Jiangxi counties including Nanchang received flood relief. Wuling and six other Hunan districts received flood rations and repair funds.

On gengshen, Sichuan's Qian border tribes were pacified. Lu Kun reported Napier's arrival at Canton, British-letter arrogance, and a request to halt trade. The Emperor approved.
