2
Solemn and still stands the pure temple; we come to offer the sacrifice. The spirits we summon in thought are feasted as though they stood present at the offering. Every gesture of ritual is scrupulously kept; the ceremonial escort is drawn up in full array. Blessings pour down without stint, that the line may flourish through endless ages. The emperor's procession, to the tune 《Long'an》: the master invocator mounts the steps; the spirit-proxy stands in his station. In reverent filial devotion we reach our ancestors and duly complete the painstaking rite.
3
The assisting ministers move in ordered ritual; each office is reverently discharged. Grave and reverent is their demeanor, carrying this pure devotion through to the end. Offering the libation vessel, to the tune 《Ruimu》: the wooden tally heralds the omen and takes shape as a patterned emblem. How radiant is the great honorific title, in accord with the enlightened sovereign. The sacred mandate has its destined bearer; great felicity unfolds without limit. We sing as the offering is raised; blessing and excellence resound far and wide.
4
Again, to the tune 《Xunxiang》: how fine is that tamed elephant, come home to the imperial capital. The southern lands nurtured its being; the central realm received the auspicious sign. Benevolence moves even the mighty beast; virtue quiets the farthest wilds. Where feeling stirs, response follows; the spirit's transforming power knows no bounds. Again, to the tune 《Yuwu》
5

Presentation of the offering stand, to the tune 《Feng'an》: victims and sacrificial beasts, roasted and boiled for the rite. Hand-drums are set in place; the sacrificial broth is made pure.
