巍巍真宇，奕奕殊庭。 規模太紫，炳煥丹青。 元命祗答，大猷是經。 多儀有踐，丕應無形。 肆設金石，聲聞杳冥。 佇回飆馭，永祐基扃。 奉香，《靈安》
Lofty stands the true palace, radiant the wondrous court. Its proportions rival the highest heaven, blazing with red and green pigments. We reverently answer the primal decree and uphold the grand design. Countless ceremonies are fulfilled, and the mighty response lies beyond form. Bells and chimes are arrayed, and their sound carries into the deepest void. We await the spirit carriage's return, that it may forever bless our foundation. 芳氣上浹，飆馭下臨。 紹承丕緒，永勵精明。 氤氳成霧，蔥鬱垂陰。 虔恭對越，介祉攸欽。 奉饌，《吉安》發祥有自，介福無疆。 紛綸丕應，保佑下方。
Fragrant breath rises on high as the spirit carriage draws near from above. We carry on the great line and forever strive for luminous discernment. Incense mingles into mist as verdant shade spreads below. With reverent homage we respond, and gladly receive the blessings bestowed. Offering sacred food, 《Auspicious Peace》: blessing arose from its source, and blessings extend without end. Responses abound in profusion, blessing those beneath.

嘉薦斯備，雅奏具揚。 寅威洞達，監眄昭章。 玉皇位酌獻，《慶安》無體之體，強名之名。 監觀萬寓。 統治九清。 真期保祐，瑞命昭明。 乾乾翼翼，祗答財成。
Fine offerings stand ready, and the elegant music fully resounds. With reverent awe that pierces through, the overseeing gaze discerns the bright pattern. Libation to the Jade Emperor, 《Celebratory Peace》: the form beyond form, the name imposed upon the nameless. Watching over all the dwellings of creation. Ruling the nine realms of highest purity. In truth may protection endure, and the auspicious mandate shine clear. With utmost diligence we reverently fulfill heaven's generous completion.

Libation to the Sacred Ancestor, 《Celebratory Peace》: in radiant signs of blessing, the great source was opened. His merit sustained all living kinds, and blessings flow to generations unborn. 赫赫藝祖，受命高穹。 威加海外，化浹區中。 發祥宗祏，錫祐眇衝。 欽承積德，勵翼精衷。 太宗位酌獻，《慶安》明明文考，儲精上蒼。 禮樂明備，溥率賓王。
Splendid the founding ancestor, who received the mandate from highest heaven. His might reached beyond the seas, and his transforming power suffused the realm. Blessings arose from the ancestral shrine, and protection was granted to the tender young lord. We reverently inherit accumulated merit and strive with deepest sincerity. Libation to Emperor Taizong, 《Celebratory Peace》: luminous the cultured father who stored his refined essence in heaven. Rites and music stood complete and clear, leading all nations to pay homage.

功德累洽，曆數會昌。 孝思罔極，丕祐無疆。 亞、終獻，《衝安》太初非有體，至道本無聲。 降跡臨下土，成功陟上清。 至仁敦動植，丕緒啟宗祊。 紫禁承來格，鴻基保永寧。
Merit and virtue joined in harmony, and the age's span met its flourishing. Filial longing knows no end, and great blessings know no bounds. Second and final offerings, 《Tranquil Peace》: the primordial has no body, and the supreme Way was soundless at its root. He descended to dwell upon the earth, and in success rose to highest purity. Supreme benevolence nurtured all that moves and grows, and the great line opened the ancestral temple. The Forbidden City welcomes the divine descent, and the grand foundation secures lasting peace.

發祥垂誕告，致孝薦崇名。 廣樂神欽奉，儲休固太平。 飲福，《慶安》明明始祖，誕啟慶基。 翼翼後嗣，虔奉孝思。 精潔斯達，祉福咸宜。 於以報貺，於以受釐。
Blessings were proclaimed at his birth, and filial devotion lifts the honored name. With grand music the spirits accept the offering, and stored blessings fortify great peace. Receiving the blessing wine, 《Celebratory Peace》: luminous the founding ancestor who opened the blessed foundation. Devoted descendants reverently uphold filial remembrance. Through purity of offering blessing is attained, and all fortune accords with right. Thus we repay the gift and receive heaven's grace.

徹饌，《吉安》雕俎在禦，飆駕聞聲。 真遊斯降，旨酒斯盈。 大樂雲闋，大禮雲成。 徹彼常薦，罄此明誠。 送聖，《真安》
Withdrawing the offerings, 《Auspicious Peace》: carved trays stand before the throne, and the spirit carriage heeds the sound. The true spirit descends, and fine wine brims the cups. Great music is now hushed, and the great rite is fulfilled. We withdraw the standing offerings and lay bare this lucid devotion. Escorting the Sage, to the tune 《True Peace》

精心既達，真遊允臻。 禮容斯舉，福應惟醇。 將整仙馭，言還上旻。 永存嘉貺，用泰烝民。 迎奉聖像四首 〈（並用《慶安》）〉 玉皇位
Refined devotion has been fulfilled, and the true spirit has duly arrived. The ritual form is now performed, and the blessing received is full and pure. The spirit carriage is made ready for the return to highest heaven. May the blessed gift endure, bringing peace to all the people. Four hymns for welcoming and presenting the sacred images. 玉虛上帝，金像容。 宅真雲構，練日龜從。 維皇對越，率禮寅恭。 靈心丕應，福祿來崇。 聖祖位總化在天，保昌厥緒。 降格皇闈，瓊輪載禦。
Supreme Emperor of the Jade Void, in golden image and countenance. Abiding in truth within a cloud-built hall, refining the sun with the tortoise in train. The emperor alone faces the spirits, leading the rites with reverent diligence. The spirit responds abundantly, and blessings and rank are heaped high. At the Sacred Ancestor's place: governing transformation in heaven, preserving the flourishing of his line. He descends to the imperial precinct, carried on a jade wheel chariot.

藻仗星陳，容金鑄。 佑我慶基，宅茲靈宇。 太祖位烝哉大君，聿懷帝祖！ 鎔範真儀，奉尊靈宇。 至感祥開，洪輝物睹。 瞻謁盡恭，飛英率土。
Embroidered banners stand like stars, and the sacred likeness is cast in gold. Bless our blessed foundation, that we may abide in this sacred palace. At Taizu's place: abundant is the great sovereign who holds the imperial ancestor in his heart! The true likeness was cast in molten metal and enshrined in the spirit palace. At fullest devotion blessings unfold, and all beings witness the great radiance. With fullest reverence we gaze and pay homage; his glory spreads across the land.

太宗位於顯神宗，德洽區中。 祥金爍冶，範茲容。 殊庭胥宇，備物致恭。 明威有赫，降福來同。 玉清昭應宮上尊號三首
At Taizong's place: manifesting the spirit ancestor, whose virtue pervaded the realm. Auspicious gold was smelted and cast into this sacred likeness. In the wondrous court all is made ready, with every requisite offered in respect. His luminous majesty shines forth, and blessings descend alike upon all. 奉告，《隆安》登隆妙號，欽翼淵宗。 茂宣德禮，有恪其容。 奉璋升薦，垂佩彌恭。 揚休詠美，以間笙鏞。 太初殿奉冊寶，《登安》
Presenting the announcement, 《Prosperous Peace》: the lofty honored title is proclaimed, reverently upholding the profound ancestor. Richly displaying virtuous rites, with solemn and reverent demeanor. Raising the jade tablet in offering, girdle pendants swaying with deepest respect. Blessings are proclaimed in song, interspersed with pipes and bells. At the Grand Beginning Hall, presenting the register and seals, 《Ascending Peace》

皇靈垂祐，洪福彌隆。 祗率綿寓，潔祀真容。 嚴恭奉冊，對越清躬。 容肅穆，懿號尊崇。 禮盛樂舉，福祿來同。 二聖殿奉絳紗袍，《登安》
The imperial spirit grants protection, and great blessings grow ever more abundant. We reverently lead all the realm in pure sacrifice to the true likeness. With solemn reverence we present the register, facing the spirits in purity. His countenance is solemn and still, and the excellent title is honored on high. 赫赫列聖，威德巍然。 彤彤靈宇，儀在焉。 奉以龍袞，被之象天。 重慶宗稷，億萬斯年。 太尉奉聖號冊寶，《真安》上旻降監，介祉實繁。 邦家修報，妙道歸尊。
Splendid the line of sages, whose majesty and virtue stand towering. Radiant the spirit palace, where the sacred regalia abide. The dragon robe is offered, draped like the pattern of heaven. May the state altars know redoubled joy for ten thousand ages. The Grand Marshal presents the sacred title register and seals, 《True Peace》: heaven descends to oversee, and blessings abound without measure. The realm and the house fulfill their debt of gratitude, and the wondrous Way is honored on high.

增名霄極，奉冊靈軒。 茂宣聖典，永祐黎元。 寶冊升殿，《大安》圖書昭錫，典禮紹成。 烝民何幸，教父儲靈。 欽承景貺，祗奉崇名。 致虔寶冊，垂祐基扃。
The name is raised to heaven's height, and the register is presented at the spirit pavilion. The sage canon is richly proclaimed, forever protecting all the people. The treasured register ascends the hall, 《Great Peace》: the written records are brightly granted, and the canonical rites are brought to completion. How blessed the people are, with the teaching father preserving the spirit. We reverently receive the great blessing and uphold the honored name. With devout reverence we present the treasured register, that protection may bless our foundation.

降神，《真安》猶龍之聖，降生厲鄉。 教流清淨，道符混茫。 大君肅謁，盛儀允臧。 森羅羽衛，躬薦蕭薌。 簪紱濟濟，鍾石洋洋。 高真至止，介福誕祥。
Descent of the Spirit, 《True Peace》: like the dragon sage, born in Li Village. His teaching flows in clarity and stillness, and the Way accords with the vast unknown. The great sovereign attends in reverence, and the grand rite is wholly fitting. Feathered guards stand in dense array as he personally offers fragrant herbs. Official regalia crowd the hall, and bells and stones sound in splendor. The highest spirit arrives, and blessings and fortune are born.

奉玉幣，《靈安》琳宮奕奕，黼坐煌煌。 玉帛成禮，飆馭延祥。 鴻儀有則，景福無疆。 嘉應昭協，丕猶誕揚。 奉饌，《吉安》
Presenting jade disks, 《Spirit Peace》: the jade palace shines bright, and the embroidered seat glows. Jade and silk fulfill the rite, and the spirit carriage extends blessing. The grand rite has its norms, and splendid fortune knows no bounds. Fine responses brightly accord, and the great design is raised on high. Offering provisions, to the tune 《Auspicious Peace》

金奏以諧，飆遊斯格。 靈監章明，皇心勵翼。 肅奉雕俎，來升彩席。 享德有孚，凝禧無斁。 酌獻，《大安》欽崇至道，肅謁殊庭。 順風而拜，明德惟馨。
Metal music harmonizes, and the spirit traveler takes his place. Spirit oversight shines forth, and the imperial heart is spurred to diligence. Solemnly presenting carved trays, ascending the colored mats. Enjoying virtue with sincerity, blessings coalesce without end. Libation offering, 《Great Peace》: reverently honoring the supreme Way, reverently attending the wondrous court. Bowing with the wind, bright virtue is fragrant alone.

飆馭來格，尊酒斯盈。 是酌是獻，心通杳冥。 飲福，《大安》彼渦之壤，指李之區。 千乘萬騎，來朝密都。 躬陳芳薦，款接仙輿。 飲酒受福，永耀鴻圖。
The spirit carriage arrives, and honored wine brims the cups. We pour and we offer, and the heart reaches the distant void. Receiving the blessing wine, 《Great Peace》: that land of the whirlpool, the district of Li. Thousands of chariots and myriad horsemen come to court the hidden capital. In person he presents fragrant offerings and sincerely receives the spirit carriage. Drinking wine and receiving blessing, forever shining upon the grand design.

亞、終獻，《正安》邈矣道祖，冥幾惚恍！ 常德不離，至真無象。 引位清穹，降祥神壤。 酌醴薦誠，控飆來享。 送神，《真安》
Second and final offerings, 《Correct Peace》: remote is the Way's ancestor, dim and indistinct! Constant virtue never departs, and utmost truth has no form. Drawing near the clear heaven, blessing descends upon the sacred ground. Pouring sweet wine in sincere offering, guiding the spirit wind to come and partake. 醴盞在戶，金奏在庭。 籩豆有踐，黍稷非馨。 義盡蠲潔，誠通杳冥。 言旋風駟，祚我修齡。 太極觀奉冊寶一首《登安之曲》
Sweet wine stands at the door, and metal music sounds in the court. Baskets and beans are set forth; grain alone is not the fragrance sought. Righteousness is fulfilled in purity, and sincerity reaches the distant void. As the spirit wind and chariot team return, may they bless our long years. The title is proclaimed in heaven's court, and the name is raised at the ancestral temple. Ascending to match at the southern suburb, harmoniously displaying the canonical rite. Moved by lightning in the spirit realm, the sage's birth was vast and excellent. The register and seals are displayed, and fortune and rank arrive together. Solemn and solemn Emperor Zhenzong, bestowing favor in abundant flourishing. The spirit wheel approaches with blessing, and earnest instruction shines forth. Reverently honoring the excellent title, reverently answering the splendid omen. With utmost sincerity we present the offering, and blessings descend without end. The true hall presents disks in purity and cleanliness, sending forth fragrance. The spirit thereby takes its place, and the altars of state celebrate peace. Escorting Truth, 《Great Peace》: pepper brew is offered in honor, and fine delicacies are refined in prayer. His countenance is remote and dim, and the jade carriage flies through rosy clouds. 奉饌，《吉安》威靈洋洋，靡有常向。 於惟欽承，來假來饗。 博碩芬香，是烝是享。 奉器有虔，載德無爽。 爾牲既充，是烹是肆。 爾肴既具，是羞是饋。
Offering provisions, 《Auspicious Peace》: the majestic spirit is vast, without fixed direction. Ah, reverently we receive him, coming near, coming to partake. Broad and abundant is the fragrance; this is the steaming, this is the offering. Presenting vessels with reverence, bearing virtue without lapse. Your sacrificial animals are now full; this is the cooking, this is the display. Your delicacies are now prepared; this is the fine food, this is the offering.

非物之重，惟德之備。 神之格思，歆我精意。 高宗郊前朝獻景靈宮二十一首皇帝入門，《乾安》維皇齊居，承神其初。 顒顒昂昂，龍步雲趨。
Not the weight of things, but the fullness of virtue. The spirit arrives in thought, delighting in our refined intent. Twenty-one hymns for Gaozong's court audience at the Spectacular Spirits Palace before the suburban sacrifice: Emperor entering the gate, 《Qian Peace》: the emperor dwells in reverence, receiving the spirit at the start. 景鍾鏗如，肅覲清都。 蚃之交，神人用孚。 升殿，《乾安》帝既臨享，罄茲精意。 對越在天，爰升紫陛。 孔容翼翼，保承丕緒。 孝奉天儀，永錫爾類。
Splendid bells ring clear as we reverently view the Clear Capital. In mutual exchange spirits and humans meet in sincerity. Ascending the hall, 《Qian Peace》: the emperor has approached the offering, exhausting this refined intent. Facing heaven in response, he ascends the purple steps. With grand bearing, cautious and careful, he preserves and continues the great line. Filial in serving heaven's rite, forever bestowing upon your kind.

降聖，《太安》惟德馨香，升聞八方。 粵神臨之，來從帝鄉。 萬靈景衛，有燁其光。 監我精純，降福穰穰。 盥洗，《乾安》
Descent of the Sage, 《Great Peace》: only virtue is fragrant, rising to be heard in eight directions. Ah, the spirit approaches, coming from the emperor's homeland. Myriad spirits stand in splendid guard, and their light shines bright. Overseeing our refined purity, descending fortune in abundance. Ritual washing, to the tune 《Qian Peace》

齋居皇皇，瓊琚鏘鏘。 承祭之初，其如在旁。 挹彼注茲，儲禧迎祥。 神之聽之，欣欣樂康。 聖祖位，《乾安》涓選休辰，有事嘉薦。 琅琅瓊珮，陟降岩殿。
In fasting dwelling, solemn and grand, jade pendants ring and clang. At the start of receiving sacrifice, as if present at the side. Pouring from that, pouring into this, storing blessing and welcoming fortune. The spirit listens, joyful and happy in health. At the Sacred Ancestor's place, 《Qian Peace》: selecting an auspicious day for the fine offering. Ringing jade pendants, ascending and descending the cliff palace.

其陟伊何？ 幣玉斯奠。 周旋中禮，千億儲羨。 聖祖位奉玉幣，《靈安》上靈始祖，雲景元尊。 嚴祀夙展，六樂朱軒。 明玉之潔，豐帛之溫。 暢乃繼序，承德不愆。
How does he ascend? Silk disks and jade are set forth. In turning, centered in rite, with billions stored in abundance. At the Sacred Ancestor's place, presenting jade disks, 《Spirit Peace》: highest spirit founding ancestor, cloud scenes and primordial honor. The solemn sacrifice is early displayed, with six kinds of music on vermilion terraces. Bright jade's purity, abundant silks' warmth. Smoothly continuing the sequence, inheriting virtue without fault.

還位，《乾安》我後臨饗，奠幣攸畢。 式旋其趨，榘度有式。 禮容齋莊，孝思純實。 天休滋至，時萬時億。 奉饌，《吉安》
Returning to position, 《Qian Peace》: our sovereign approaches the offering, and the disks are complete. The style of turning in pace; compass measure has its norm. Ritual bearing reverent and solemn, filial thought pure and real. Heaven's blessing increasingly arrives, ten thousand times ten thousand. Offering provisions, to the tune 《Auspicious Peace》

百職駿奔，來相於庭。 奉盛以告，登茲芳馨。 際天蟠地，默運三靈。 神兮來歆，祚我休平。 再盥洗，《乾安》有嚴大禮，對時休明。 情文則粲，蠲潔必清。
A hundred offices gallop in haste, coming to assist in the court. Presenting the abundance to announce, ascending this fragrant aroma. Reaching heaven, coiling earth, silently moving the three spirits. Spirit, ah, come and enjoy, blessing our fine peace. Ritual washing again, 《Qian Peace》: there is solemn great rite, facing the season's fine brightness. Emotional pattern then brilliant; purity in cleansing must be clear.

再臨觀盥，以專以精。 真遊來格，永觀厥成。 再詣聖祖位，《乾安》於赫炎宋，十葉華耀。 屬茲郊報，陟降在廟。 其降伊何？ 椒漿桂酒。 再拜斟酌，永禦九有。
Again approaching the viewing of washing, with focus, with refinement. The true spirit comes to his place, forever viewing its completion. Again proceeding to the Sacred Ancestor's place, 《Qian Peace》: ah, blazing Song, ten generations flowering in glory. Belonging to this suburban report, ascending and descending in the temple. How does he descend? Pepper brew and cassia wine. Bowing twice in pouring, forever ruling the nine domains.

聖祖位酌獻，《祖安》 〈（御製）〉 瑤源誕啟，玉牒肇榮。 覆育群有，監觀圓清。 酒醴既洽，登薦惟誠。 無有後艱，駿惠雲仍。 還位，《乾安》
Libation to the Sacred Ancestor, to the tune 《Ancestor Peace》 (Imperially composed) The jade source opens in birth, and the jade register begins in glory. He covers and nurtures all beings, overseeing the round clarity. Wine and sweet wine are harmonized, and the ascending offering is pure sincerity. No later hardship; grand favor continues like clouds. Returning to position, to the tune 《Qian Peace》

奠鬯告成，式旋厥位。 天步雍容，神人燕喜。 九廟觀德，百靈薦祉。 子孫其昌，垂千萬祀。 文舞退、武舞進，《正安》於皇樂舞，進旅退旅。 一弛一張，笙磬具舉。
The sweet libation is announced complete, and he turns to his position. Heaven's pace is calm and composed, and spirits and humans feast in joy. The nine temples observe virtue, and a hundred spirits offer blessing. Descendants will flourish, extending for thousands of ages of sacrifice. Civil dance withdraws and martial dance advances, 《Correct Peace》: imperial music and dance advance and withdraw in ranks. One relaxed, one drawn; pipes and stones are all raised.

豈惟玩聲，象德是似。 神鑒孔昭，福祿來予。 亞、終獻，《衝安》五音飭奏，神既億康。 澹其容與，薦此嘉觴。 有來顯相，鋗玉鏘鏘。 奉承若宥，罔不齋莊。
It is not only to enjoy the sound; it images virtue itself. The spirit mirror shines forth, and fortune and rank are granted. Second and final offerings, 《Tranquil Peace》: the five tones are regulated in performance, and the spirit is already vast in peace. Calm in bearing and yielding, offering this fine goblet. The manifest assistant comes, and jade bells ring and clang. Receiving and serving as if pardoned, all are reverent and solemn.

飲福，《報安》嘉薦既終，神貺斯復。 齎我思成。 靈光下燭。 孝孫承之，載祗載肅。 敷錫庶民，亟蒙祉福。 還位，《乾安》
Receiving the blessing wine, 《Report Peace》: the fine offering has ended, and the spirit's boon is restored. Carrying my thought to completion. Spirit light descends to illuminate. The filial grandson receives it, bearing reverence and solemnity. Bestowing upon the common people, swiftly receiving blessing and fortune. Returning to position, to the tune 《Qian Peace》

帝臨庭，逆厘上靈。 神安坐，肅若有承。 嘉觴既申，德聞惟馨。 靈光留俞，祚我億齡。 徹饌，《吉安》普淖既薦，芬孔時。 神嗜而顧，有來燕矣。
The emperor approaches the court, welcoming blessing from the upper spirit. The spirit sits calmly, solemn as if receiving. The fine goblet is extended, and virtue heard is fragrant alone. Spirit light lingers in acceptance, blessing our hundred millions of years. Withdrawing the feast, 《Auspicious Peace》: universal richness is offered, fragrance abundant at the hour. The spirit enjoys and turns to look; feasting has come.
