On dingsi in the fourth month of year 3 of Qianyuan, a comet appeared in the east among the Bond and the Stomach, white, four chi long; it traveled swiftly east through the Hairy Head, the Net, the Beak, the Three Stars, the Eastern Well, the Ghost Carriage, the Willow, and the Chariot Shaft to west of the Right Law-Enforcer — more than fifty days in all, then gone. On xinyou, the intercalary month's new moon, a comet appeared in the west, several zhang long; it was extinguished in the fifth month. The Bond is Lu; the Stomach, the Hairy Head, and the Net are Zhao; the Beak and the Three Stars are Tang; the Eastern Well and the Ghost Carriage are the capital-region allotment; half of the Willow is the Zhou allotment.
