8
使
Formerly, after our imperial grandfather Emperor Wuzong passed away, our grandmother the Grand Empress Dowager was deluded by slanderers, causing our imperial father Emperor Mingzong to be sent out to enfeoffment in Yunnan. When Emperor Yingzong was assassinated, orthodox succession was gradually prepared; our imperial father, as Wuzong's legitimate heir, fled to dwell in the northern desert; princes and great ministers with one heart supported and uplifted him, initiating the great enterprise; at that time, because of proximity, Wenzong was first welcomed to temporarily oversee state affairs. Later knowing what heavenly principle and human relations require, under the borrowed name of yielding the throne, the imperial seal was brought up; our imperial father pushed sincerity without doubt and immediately conferred the crown prince's seal upon him. Wenzong's evil deepened without repentance; at the moment when he should have gone in person to welcome him, he with his ministers Yelu Buhua, Yili Yali, Mingli Dong'a, and others plotted treason, causing our imperial father to die with resentment as the honored guest on high. Returning and again assuming the imperial throne, he wished to explain himself to all under heaven, yet spoke of how in a few days the imperial carriage did not proceed. All within the seas heard of it, and none did not gnash their teeth. Moreover he secretly schemed to pass the throne to his son, fabricating wicked words and shifting blame onto Empress Budashiri, saying the Emperor was not Mingzong's son, and thereby caused exile to remote regions. The great enterprise of the ancestors nearly did not continue. Inwardly harboring shame, he then killed Yili Yali to stop mouths. Heaven did not protect him, and death-punishment soon descended. Aunt Empress Budashiri, relying on her power and flame, did not clarify the heir of the brilliant imperial father but rashly established the infant younger brother Yijianzhenban, who again did not complete a year; the princes and great ministers by worth and seniority supported the Emperor to the throne. Great affairs of state that did not proceed from self — how could they be enumerated one by one. Whenever reflecting that governing must be rooted in utmost filial piety, and affairs should first be rectifying the person — relying on heaven's spirit, powerful traitors were removed; utmost filial piety and rectification of name cannot be delayed again; eternally considering the boundless grace of nurturing, how could one bear to forget the duty of irreconcilable hatred. Past crimes cannot all be punished to death; he ordered the Court of Imperial Sacrifices to remove Tugh Temür's spirit tablet from the temple. Budashiri, my uncle's wife, secretly colluded with treacherous ministers, showed no regard for my wishes, and arrogantly assumed the title of Grand Empress Dowager. The scandal within her household sundered the imperial kin; her crimes were grave beyond measure. By the standards of righteousness, her exalted titles are revoked and she is banished to Dong'an Prefecture.
9
Yan Tiegusi was exiled to Goryeo; before he arrived, Yuekuochai killed him en route.
