The suburban rite is deeply solemn; washed and offered, the first gift ascends. With gathered hem and reverent bearing, we offer what is fragrant alone. The ancestral rite with paired offerings begins the bright suburban sacrifice. The fine jade is laid out; measured silks are now arrayed. A great stand is set; the victims have been washed clean. The sacred knife strikes again and again; blood and suet are lifted up. Towering stands the Grand Altar; solemn and vast is the azure dome. The spirits draw near; in reverent response communion is made. Sacrificial goblets stand in rows; amber liquor fills them within. The six movements have ended; the three offerings, it seems, are complete. May the spirits drink their fill and rest, in solemn, harmonious peace. The suburban rite is complete; the spirits have fully feasted. Baskets and stands stand in good order; nothing delays the withdrawal. Officers hurry forward with eager step, joyous yet in proper form. Then pure blessing is granted, to uphold the great foundation forever. The full sacrifice is done; the spirit carriage wheels homeward. Rite and harmony answer one another; blessings descend from Heaven. All that moves and grows is as it should be; yin and yang keep their balance. The radiant Son of Heaven—may he reign for endless myriads of years. How vast is Great Yuan, inheriting the Lord’s gracious favor. To repay our origin we prize sincerity; at the suburbs we offer abundantly. Heaven, we know, arches high — yet utmost sincerity wins access. We perform the sacrifices and suburban rites; the hundred lords press forward in haste. Our offerings are purified; our trays are heaped full. Pipes and bells strike harmony; baskets and stands waft fragrance. The spirits come to feast and savor our bright virtue. Glorious is August Heaven, radiant in majesty over all below. Pottery and gourds present our sincerity; true fragrance is heard in virtue alone. With libation we offer; the spirits on high draw near. Utmost is the origin of Earth, sharing Heaven's virtue. It enfolds and nurtures all living beings; its profound merit cannot be fathomed. Together we feast at the round altar, following the ancient rites in their season. Grant blessing without limit, and thereby bring peace to the imperial realm. The great rite repays the origin; at the suburban altar Heaven's position is fixed. Our glorious divine ancestor, returning to the source, worthily shares the altar. Heaven alone is great; the Emperor feasts the Lord on High. Matching ancestors and forefathers, we reverently assist the spiritual blessings. We fix the supreme height and exalt his merit; may our bright service endure forever. We ascend the central peak toward Heaven; every symbolic offering is complete. The civil dancers withdraw and the martial dancers advance; 《The Suite of Harmonious Completion》 is played: Yellow Bell, gong mode.

The feathered pipers have finished; now the jade axes are brandished. Now slackening, now taut — neither slack nor strained. The eight sounds strike harmony; the myriad dancers move with splendor. Karakorum's splendid domain — a city of Heaven, a palace of Earth. Guest and tribute came from the four quarters; north and south arrived as one. A precious token was silently granted from Heaven long ago. Sacred martial prowess was born; the precious throne was opened first. Rainbow banners return from the royal progress; the dragon carriage roams among the immortals. We honor the distant dead as if they lived; the Emperor's longing is solemn and deep. Martial might soared like a hawk; he worthily filled the ancestral place. Following the dragon, he pushed far outward — realms of ten thousand thousand li. Through three reigns he received Heaven's rest; reverent and self-restrained, he lived at ease. Reverently he continued the ancestral path; his virtue was richly cultivated. Like a dragon leaping from hidden depths, wind and clouds joined in harmony. He knew the people's suffering; the imperial heart was deeply troubled for them. The campaign to Kuimen Pass — continuing the resolve to win merit. With sacrificial vessels we offer reverent rites; the splendid ceremony is grand indeed.

A sage unrestrained by Heaven; he gathered the great completion. He established words and handed down teaching; for ten thousand generations the standard rule. The temple court is grand; goblets and stands are already full. May the spirits arrive; bright blessing comes together. At ablution, 《The Suite of Manifest Brightness》 is played:

The spirits have peacefully stopped; with sincerity, reverent as if present. Libation-vessel ablution is in the court; we wash and rinse. Not only pure in cultivation; virtue is also renewed. Facing and answering here; reverence and respect are the rule. Ascending the hall, 《The Suite of Splendid Brightness》 is played: (Same as the descent-of-spirits section.)

Great is the sage's achievement; it reaches all within and beyond the seas. Rites are exalted and rank honored; glory shines upon the bright age. Ascending and descending in the court; gathering the hem and letting fall the pendants. All is solemn and harmonious; abundant as though present. As silks are set out, 《The Suite of Virtuous Brightness》 is played:

Jade scepter and robe are honored; girdle pendants are ranked as assistants. Baskets and stands are in order; all frames harmoniously perform. Measured silks are displayed; swiftly they run left and right. Heaven upholds this culture; is it not the spirits' blessing? At libation to the Cultured Proclaimed King, 《The Suite of Sincere Brightness》 is played:

The sage alone oversees arrival; he enjoys our sincere devotion. Music sounds from the full orchestra; large victims are offered. Sweet wine is presented in announcement; the fine offering is fragrant. Soothe us with many blessings; may abundant peace forever be reached. At libation to the Yan State Duke, 《The Suite of Sincere Brightness》 is played:

With hidden heart he loved learning; not transgressing, as if foolish. Use or discard, act or hide — thus he was together with the sage. The transmission of Zhu and Si; learning exhausts nature and mandate. He forcefully repelled Yang and Mo; thereby he continued the three sages. Encountering the age's decline, who knew what was correct? His lofty conduct commands reverence; all are solemnly respectful. At the second offering, 《The Suite of Spirit Brightness》 is played: (The final offering is the same.)

廟成奕奕,祭祀孔時。 三爵具舉,是饗是宜。 於昭聖訓,示我民彜。 紀德報功,配於兩儀。 送神,奏《慶明之曲》:
The temple stands complete and shining; sacrifice is perfectly timed. Three goblets are all raised; this feasting is fitting. How bright the sage's instruction; it shows us the people's constant rule. Virtue is recorded and achievement repaid; he is paired with Heaven and Earth. At the sending off of the spirits, 《The Suite of Celebratory Brightness》 is played:
