父紑，本州迎主簿，少居父憂，以毀卒，在《梁書孝行傳》。 His father, Jiang Fou, was summoned by his home province to serve as Chief Clerk. While still young, he entered mourning for his father and died from wasting grief; his biography appears in the Book of Liang's Biographies of Filial Conduct.

江紑字含潔，濟陽考城人也。 Jiang Fou, styled Hanjie, was from Kaocheng in Jiyang.

紑幼有孝性。 Gou was filial from childhood.

年十三，父患眼，紑侍疾將朞月，衣不解帶。 At thirteen, when his father had eye trouble, Gou nursed him nearly a month without leaving his side.

紑第三叔祿與草堂寺智者法師善，往訪之。 His third uncle Lu was close to the Wise One of Caotang Temple and went to ask him.

南康王爲南州，召爲迎主簿。 When the Prince of Nankang governed the south he made Gou reception chief clerk.

紑性靜，好《老》、《莊》玄言，尤善佛義，不樂進仕。 Quiet by nature, he loved Laozi and Zhuangzi and Buddhist teaching and did not care to advance in office.

及父卒，紑廬于墓，終日號慟不絕聲，月餘卒。 When his father died he lodged at the tomb and wailed without cease; after more than a month he died.
