後呂諲、王仲昇及中官皆言瑱布恩惠，懼其得士心，以瑱為鄧州刺史，充山南東道襄、鄧、唐、復、郢、隨等六州節度，余並如故。 Later Lü Shen, Wang Zhongsheng, and the eunuchs said Zhen was buying loyalty and might win the army's devotion. He was shifted to Dengzhou and given six prefectures; other titles stood.

初，仲昇被圍累月，呂諲病於江陵，瑱在襄州，又恐仲昇構己，遂顧望不救。 Zhongsheng had been besieged for months. Lü Shen lay ill at Jiangling; Zhen at Xiangzhou feared a plot against himself and held back from relief.

同列呂諲，地望雖懸，政事在揆之右，罷相，自賓客為荊南節度，聲問甚美。 His colleague Lü Yin, though far beneath him in birth and standing, surpassed him in government affairs. After leaving the chief ministership Lü went from imperial guest to military commissioner of Jingnan, where his reputation flourished.

懼其重入，遂密令直省至諲管內抅求諲過失。 Fearing that Yin might return to high office, Kui secretly ordered secretariat officials to enter Yin's jurisdiction and hunt for faults.

諲密疏自陳，乃貶揆萊州長史同正員，其制旨曰：「扇湖南之八州，沮江陵之節制。」 Yin submitted a secret memorial in his own defense, and Kui was demoted to senior administrator of Laizhou with concurrent regular status. The edict declared, "He stirred up the eight prefectures south of the lake and obstructed control from Jiangling."

同列呂諲，地望雖懸，政事在揆之右，罷相，自賓客為荊南節度，聲問甚美。 His colleague Lü Yin, though of far humbler birth, had once outranked him in power. After leaving the chief ministership Yin had served as guest minister and then as military commissioner of Jingnan, where his reputation flourished.

懼其重入，遂密令直省至諲管內抅求諲過失。 Fearing Yin's return to court, Kui secretly sent secretariat staff into his jurisdiction to dig up offenses.

諲密疏自陳，乃貶揆萊州長史同正員，其制旨曰：「扇湖南之八州，沮江陵之節制。」 Yin lodged a secret defense of himself, and Kui was demoted to senior adjutant of Laizhou. The edict declared that he had "stirred unrest across the eight southern Hunan prefectures and obstructed military control at Jiangling."
