晉天福初，聞張從賓作亂於河陽，鹹往依之。 Early in the Tianfu era of Jin, on hearing that Zhang Congbin had rebelled at Heyang, they all went to join him.

從賓慮其難製，悉斬於帳下。 Congbin feared they would be difficult to control and had them all executed in his camp.

是歲，範延光叛命於鄴，詔遣前靈武節度使張從賓發河橋屯兵數千人，東討延光。 That year Fan Yanguang rebelled at Ye. An edict ordered the former military commissioner of Lingwu, Zhang Congbin, to mobilize several thousand troops at Heqiao and march east against Yanguang.

既而從賓與延光合謀為亂，遂害重信於理所，時年二十。 Before long Congbin joined Yanguang in plotting rebellion and murdered Chongxin at his headquarters. He was twenty.

未幾，鄴都範延光叛，朝廷遣楊光遠討之，詔前靈武節度使、洛都巡檢使張從賓發盟津屯兵赴鄴下。 Before long Fan Yanguang rebelled at Yedu. The court sent Yang Guangyuan to suppress him and ordered former Lingwu military commissioner and Luoyang patrol commissioner Zhang Congbin to mobilize troops at Mengjin and march to Ye.

會從賓密通延光，與婁繼英等先劫河橋，次亂洛邑，因害重乂於河南府，時年十九。 Congbin then secretly communicated with Yanguang. With Lou Jiying and others he first seized Heqiao Bridge, then threw Luoyang into disorder, and murdered Chongyi in Henan Prefecture. He was nineteen.

從賓敗，高祖發哀於便殿，輟視朝三日，詔贈太傅。 When Congbin was defeated, Gaozu expressed mourning in the side hall, suspended court audiences for three days, and issued an edict posthumously honoring Chongyi as Grand Tutor.

天福初，喪制未闋，會張從賓作亂，發兵迫脅，取赴河陽，令知留守事。 Early in the Tianfu era, before his mourning period had ended, Zhang Congbin rebelled, raised troops, and forced him along. He was taken to Heyang and put in charge of the regency.

從賓敗，與二子詔戮於市。 When Congbin was defeated, he and his two sons were executed by imperial order in the marketplace.

天福二年夏，會張從賓作亂，饒謁於麾下，請預其行。 In the summer of the second Tianfu year, when Zhang Congbin rebelled, Rao came to his camp and asked to march with him.

從賓敗，饒以王建立方鎮平盧，走投之，建立延入城，斬之以聞，聞者快焉。 When Congbin was defeated, Rao fled to Wang Jianli, who was then military governor of Pinglu. Jianli had him brought into the city, beheaded him, and reported it to court; all who heard of it were glad.
