豐與行臺慕容紹宗見北有白氣同入船，忽有暴風從東北來，正晝昏暗，飛沙走礫，船纜忽絕，漂至城下。 Feng and mobile-office commissioner Murong Shaozong saw a white vapor in the north and boarded a boat together. Suddenly a violent wind rose from the northeast; at high noon the sky went dark, sand flew and stones scoured the air, the mooring lines snapped, and the boat was driven to the foot of the city.

釋褐開府參軍，兼行臺郎中，隨慕容紹宗。 He doffed the hemp and entered service as an opening-office staff officer and concurrent mobile-office gentleman, attending Murong Shaozong.

紹宗自云有水厄，遂於戰艦中浴，並自投於水，冀以厭當之。 Shaozong claimed a water bane was upon him, so he bathed aboard the war galley and even threw himself into the river, hoping an apotropaic counter-measure would turn fate aside.

紹宗笑曰：「不能免俗，聊復爾耳。」 Murong Shaozong laughed. "Cannot escape the vulgar," he said; "one goes through the motions, that is all."

未幾而紹宗遇溺，時論以為知微。 Before long Murong Shaozong drowned; opinion at the time took it that Bao had read the omen.
