肅順方護文宗梓宮在途，命睿親王仁壽、醇郡王奕枻往逮，遇諸密雲，夜就行館捕之，咆哮不服，械系。 Sushun was then escorting the late emperor's coffin on the road. Prince Rui Renshou and Prince Chun Yiyi were sent to seize him; they met at Miyun and captured him at night in the relay station. He roared defiance and was put in irons.

欽奉兩宮皇太后懿旨，以醇親王之子承繼文宗顯皇帝為子，入承大統為嗣皇帝，俟嗣皇帝生有皇子，即承繼大行皇帝為嗣。 By decree of the two empress dowagers, the son of Prince Chun was adopted as heir to Emperor Wenzong, ascended the throne as successor emperor, and when he should have a son of his own, that son would succeed the late emperor in turn.

默念穆宗嗣統未有定議，孝哲毅皇后又仰藥殉，遂疏請表揚穆後潛德，更諡號，並解醇親王奕枻職任，詔嚴斥奪職。 Brooding over the unsettled succession to Emperor Muzong and Empress Xiaozheyi's death by poison in devotion to her husband, he memorialized to honor the late empress's hidden virtues, revise her posthumous title, and remove Prince Chun Yixuan from office. An edict sternly rebuked him and stripped him of his post.

逾歲，醇親王奕枻閱海軍，蓮英從，一新憂之。 A year later Prince Chun Yixuan inspected the navy with Lianying in attendance, and Yixin was deeply troubled.

風聞北洋大臣以座船迎醇親王，王弗受，而太監隨乘之，至駴人觀聽。 It was rumored that the Beiyang minister welcomed Prince Chun with a seat-boat. The prince refused it, but the eunuch rode in it anyway, to the shock of all who saw and heard.

大澂盛負時譽，會海軍議起，以醇親王奕枻為總理。 Dacheng enjoyed great contemporary renown; when plans for a navy were raised, Prince Chun Yixuan was placed in charge.

大澂素與王善，治河功成，實授河道總督，加頭品頂戴。 Dacheng had long been on good terms with the prince; after the river works succeeded he was formally appointed Yellow River commissioner and granted the first-rank hat finial.

大澂遂疏請尊崇醇親王稱號禮節。 Dacheng then memorialized requesting elevated titles and ceremonial honors for Prince Chun.

疏入，孝欽顯皇后震怒，出醇親王元年所上預杜妄論疏頒示天下。 When the memorial arrived, Empress Dowager Cixi was furious and had Prince Chun's own memorial from his first year in office — written to forestall reckless speculation — published throughout the empire.
