長興三年十二月，代康義誠為襄州節度使。 Changxing 3, month 12, he replaced Kang Yicheng at Xiangyang.

十月，范延光出鎮常山，以三司使馮贇與弘昭對掌樞務，與康義誠、孟漢瓊同謀以殺秦王。 Month 10 Fan Yanguang went to Changshan; Feng Yun shared the Privy Council with Hongzhao; they joined Kang Yicheng and Meng Hanqiong to plot the Prince of Qin's death.

時康義誠以其子事於秦府，故恒持兩端。 Kang Yicheng's son served the Qin mansion, so he straddled both camps.

及秦王兵扣端門，洪實為孟漢瓊所使，率先領騎軍自左掖門出逐秦王，自是義誠陰銜之。 At the assault on the Duan Gate Meng Hanqiong sent Hongshi's cavalry out the Left Flank Gate against the prince; Yicheng thereafter bore a grudge.

閔帝嗣位，洪實自恃領軍之功，義誠每言，不為之下。 Emperor Min's accession made Hongshi proud of commanding the troops; he would not defer to Yicheng.

應順元年三月辛酉，義誠將出征，閔帝幸左藏庫，親給軍士錢帛。 Yingshun 1, third month, day xinyou: Yicheng marched; the emperor visited the Left Treasury to pay the troops in person.

是時，義誠與洪實同於庫中麵論用兵利害， Yicheng and Hongshi argued strategy face to face in the treasury,

帝聞，召而訊之，洪實猶理前謀，又曰：「義誠言臣圖反，據發兵計，義誠反必矣。」 The emperor summoned them; Hongshi pressed his plan and said, "Yicheng accuses me—by his deployments he is the rebel."

既而義誠果以禁軍迎降潞王，故洪實之死，後人皆以為冤。 Yicheng soon surrendered the guards to the Prince of Lu; posterity called Hongshi's death a miscarriage of justice.

康義誠，字信臣，代北三部落人也。 Kang Yicheng, style Xinchen, came from the three northern tribal groups.

義誠進曰：「主上不慮社稷阽危，不思戰士勞苦，荒耽禽色，溺於酒樂。 Yicheng urged, "The throne ignores peril and the soldiers' pain, drowning in sport and wine.

〈（《玉堂閑話》云：長興中，侍衛使康義誠，嘗軍中差人於大宅充院子，亦曾小有笞責。 (The 《Idle Talk from the Jade Hall》: Changxing-era commissioner Kang Yicheng once took a man from a great house as yard servant and had him lightly beaten.

義誠以明宗委遇，無以解退，乃令其子以弓馬事秦王以自結。 Favored by Mingzong, Yicheng could not resign; he had his son serve the Prince of Qin in archery and horsemanship to win favor.

明宗不豫，秦王諷義誠為助，義誠曲意承奉，亦非真誠。 When Mingzong fell ill, the Prince of Qin urged Yicheng to aid him; Yicheng flattered him insincerely.

及朱弘昭、馮贇等懼禍，謀於義誠，但云：「仆為將校，不敢預議，但相公所使耳。」 When Zhu Hongzhao, Feng Yun, and the rest feared disaster and plotted with Yicheng, he only said, "I am a military officer; I dare not take part in counsel—I do only as the chief councilor orders."

及秦王既誅，明宗宴駕，閔帝即位，加檢校太尉、兼侍中，判六軍諸衛事。 After the Prince of Qin was killed, Mingzong died, and Emperor Min took the throne; Yicheng was made acting Grand Commandant and Palace Attendant and put in charge of the Six Armies and all guards.

未幾，鳳翔變起，西軍不利，義誠懼，乃請行，蓋欲盡率駕下諸軍送降於潞王求免也。 Soon the Fengxiang revolt broke out; the western army fared badly; Yicheng, afraid, asked to march—likely meaning to lead the emperor's troops in surrender to the Prince of Lu to save himself.

會與朱洪實議事不葉，洪實因厲聲言義誠苞藏之志，閔帝曖昧，不能明辨，而誅洪實。 He disputed strategy with Zhu Hongshi; Hongshi cried that Yicheng harbored treachery; Emperor Min, confused, could not judge and had Hongshi executed.

及義誠率軍至新安，諸軍爭先趨陝，解甲迎降，義誠以部下數十人見潞王請罪，潞王雖罪其奸回，未欲行法。 When Yicheng reached Xin'an, the troops raced to Shan, laid down arms, and surrendered; Yicheng came with several dozen men to beg pardon of the Prince of Lu; though the prince blamed his treachery, he did not yet punish him.

及從榮敗，義誠召嶽同至河南府檢閱府藏。 When Congrong was defeated, Yicheng summoned Yue to go with him to the Henan prefecture to inspect the prefectural treasury.

癸亥，河陽三城節度使康義誠為鳳翔行營都招討使，王思同為副。 On guihai Kang Yicheng of Heyang became grand suppression commissioner for the Fengxiang campaign, with Wang Sitong again as deputy.

康義誠叛於唐，來降。 Kang Yicheng abandoned the Tang cause and came over.

戊子，殺康義誠及藥彥稠。 On wuzi Kang Yicheng and Yao Yanchou were put to death.

義誠叛于愍帝，罪宜曰「誅」，而廢帝同惡相殺，故書曰「殺」。 Kang Yicheng rebelled against Mindi, so his crime should have been recorded as execution. But Feidi and Yicheng were partners in evil who killed each other, so the text says “killed.”
