有司奏撰立郊廟歌，敕司徒褚淵、侍中謝朏、散騎侍郎孔稚珪、太學博士王咺之、總明學士劉融、何法冏、何曇秀十人竝作，超宗辭獨見用。 The responsible offices memorialized requesting that suburban and ancestral-temple hymns be composed. The emperor ordered ten men to write them: Minister over the Masses Chu Yuan, Attendant-in-Ordinary Xie Fei, Scattered Cavalry Gentleman Kong Zhigui, National University Erudite Wang Xuanzhi, Zongming Academy scholars Liu Rong, He Fajiong, He Tanxiu, and others. Only Chaozong's wording was used.

孔稚珪 Kong Zhigui

孔稚珪字德璋，會稽山陰人也。 Kong Zhigui, whose style name was Dezhang, came from Shanyin in Kuaiji commandery.

稚珪少學涉，有美譽。 Zhigui was widely read from his youth and enjoyed an excellent reputation.

太祖爲驃騎，以稚珪有文翰，取爲記室參軍，與江淹對掌辭筆。 When the Founding Emperor held the post of rapid cavalry general, he recruited Zhigui for his literary gifts as headquarters recorder, pairing him with Jiang Yan to share responsibility for official prose.

仲智妾李氏驕妒無禮，稚珪白太守王敬則殺之。 Zhongzhi's concubine Lady Li was arrogant, jealous, and insolent; Zhigui reported her to Grand Administrator Wang Jingze, who had her put to death.

至九年，稚珪上表曰： By the ninth year Zhigui submitted a memorial, saying:

稚珪以虜連歲南侵，征役不息，百姓死傷。 Because the barbarians had invaded the south year after year, corvée labor never ceased, and the common people were dying and wounded, Zhigui

稚珪風韻清疏，好文詠，飲酒七八斗。 Zhigui's bearing and charm were clear and spare; he loved literary composition and song, and could drink seven or eight dou of wine.

稚珪笑曰：「我以此當兩部鼓吹，何必期效仲舉。」 Zhigui laughed and said: "I take this as music from both orchestras—why must I expect to emulate Zhongju?"

三年，稚珪疾，東昏屏除，以牀轝走，因此疾甚，遂卒。 In the third year Zhigui fell ill; Emperor Donghun had him expelled and he fled in a carrying litter; because of this his illness grew severe and he died.
