鬱林王卽位，爲中軍將軍，領兵置佐。 When the Prince of Yulin ascended, he became central-army general with troops and a full staff.

其年，鬱林王廢，尚書令西昌侯鸞議立昭文爲帝。 That year, after the Prince of Yulin was removed, Xiao Luan, marquis of Xichang and director of the masters of writing, urged that Zhaowen be made emperor.

嗣君昏忍，暴戾滋多，棄侮天經，悖滅人紀，朝野重足，遐邇側視，民怨神恫，宗祧如綴。 The succeeding lord was dim and cruel; violence and excess grew; he cast aside and insulted Heaven's constants and perversely extinguished human norms—at court and in the wild all stood on tiptoes in fear; far and near watched askance; the people resented and the spirits were alarmed; the ancestral temple seemed about to fall apart.
