三年，乙辛又與其黨謀構昭懷太子，陰令右護衛太保耶律查剌，告知樞密院事蕭速撒等八人謀立皇太子。 In the third year Yixin and his faction framed Crown Prince Zhaohuai, secretly ordering Right Guard Commissioner Yelü Chala to accuse Privy Councilor Xiao Susa and eight others of plotting to enthrone the crown prince.

帝信之，以乙辛等鞫按，至杖皇太子，囚之宮中別室，殺撻不也、撒剌等三十五人，又殺速撒等諸子； The emperor believed them; Yixin conducted the inquiry, had the crown prince beaten and imprisoned in a separate palace chamber, executed Tabuye, Sala, and thirty-five others, and killed Susa's sons as well;

燕哥等詐為太子爰書以聞，上大怒，廢太子，徙上京，乙辛尋遣人弒於囚所。 Yange and others forged the crown prince's confession; the emperor deposed him and sent him to Shangjing, where Yixin soon had him murdered in prison.

道宗殺宣懿皇后，遷昭懷太子，太子尋被害。 Daozong killed Empress Xuanyi and banished Crown Prince Zhaohuai, who was soon murdered.

駙馬都尉撻不也坐昭懷太子事被害，其弟訛都斡欲逼尚公主，公主以訛都斡黨乙辛，惡之。未幾，訛都斡以事伏誅。天祚幼，乙辛用事。公主每以匡救為心，竟誅乙辛。 Imperial Son-in-law Tabuye was executed for involvement in Prince Zhaohuai's affair; his younger brother Eduwo tried to force a marriage to the princess, but she detested him as a partisan of Yixin. Before long Eduwo was executed. Tianzuo was still young and Yixin held power; the princess constantly worked to rescue the court, and in the end Yixin was put to death.

順宗濬晉王敖盧斡 Shunzong Jun and Prince of Jin Aolugan

順宗，名濬，小字耶魯斡，道宗長子，母宣懿皇后蕭氏。 Shunzong, whose personal name was Jun and childhood name Yeluwo, was Daozong's eldest son; his mother was Empress Xuanyi of the Xiao clan.

六歲，封梁王。 At six he was enfeoffed as Prince of Liang.

八歲，立為皇太子。 At eight he was made crown prince.

及母后被害，太子有憂色。 When the empress mother was killed, the crown prince's face showed deep worry.

副點檢蕭十三謂乙辛曰：「臣民心屬太子，公非閥閱，一日若立，吾輩措身何地！」 Deputy Inspector Xiao Shisan told Yixin, "Officials and commoners alike look to the crown prince. You are not of high birth—once he reigns, where will men like us stand?"

乃與同知北院宣徽事蕭特裏特謀構陷太子，陰令右護衛太保耶律查剌誣告都宮使耶律撒剌、知院蕭速撒、護衛蕭忽古謀廢立。 He and Associate Commissioner of the Northern Bureau of Palace Attendants Xiao Telite then plotted to frame the crown prince, secretly ordering Right Guard Commissioner Yelü Chala to accuse Palace Director Yelü Sala, Commissioner Xiao Susa, and guard Xiao Hugu of plotting a coup.

乙辛復令牌印郎君蕭訛都斡等言：「查剌前告非妄，臣實與謀，欲殺耶律乙辛等，然後立太子。 Yixin then had Seal and Insignia Attendant Xiao Eduogan and others declare, "Chala's first report was true—I was in the plot to kill Yelü Yixin and his faction, then put the crown prince on the throne.

帝信之，幽太子於別室，以耶律燕哥鞫案。 The emperor believed them, confined the crown prince in a separate room, and put Yelü Yange in charge of the investigation.

太子具陳枉狀曰：「吾為儲副，尚何所求。 The crown prince laid out the injustice of the charge: "I am heir apparent—what more could I want?

上大怒，廢太子為庶人。 The emperor flew into a rage and deposed the crown prince to commoner status.

乙辛尋遣達魯古、撒八往害之，太子年方二十，上京留守蕭撻得紿以疾薨聞。 Yixin soon sent Dalugu and Saba to kill him. The crown prince was only twenty; Upper Capital regent Xiao Tade was tricked with a report that he had died of illness.

帝後知其冤，悔恨無及，謚曰昭懷太子，以天子禮改葬玉峰山。 When the emperor later learned of the injustice, remorse came too late. He posthumously styled him Crown Prince Zhaohuai and reburied him on Mount Yufeng with imperial rites.

乾統初，追尊大孝順聖皇帝，廟號順宗，妃蕭氏貞順皇后。 At the start of the Qian Tong era he was posthumously elevated to Emperor the Great Filial and Shun the Sage, with temple name Shunzong; his consort of the Xiao clan was styled Empress Zhenshun.

論曰：道宗知太子之賢，而不能辨乙辛之詐，竟絕父子之親，為萬世惜。 Commentary: Daozong knew his son's worth yet could not see through Yixin's deceit, and in the end destroyed the bond between father and son—a loss the ages lament.

乙辛知為一身之計，不知有君臣之義，豈復知有太子乎！ Yixin cared only for himself and knew nothing of the duty between ruler and minister—how could he spare a thought for the crown prince!

密奏乙辛以皇太子知國政，心不自安，與張孝傑數相過從，恐有陰謀，動搖太子。 In a secret memorial he warned that Yelu Yixin, uneasy now that the crown prince governed state affairs, was meeting Zhang Xiaojie repeatedly and might be plotting against the heir.

耶律乙辛謀害太子，撻不也知其奸，欲殺乙辛及蕭特裏得、蕭十三等。 When Yelu Yixin plotted against the crown prince, Tabuye saw through his treachery and meant to kill Yixin along with Xiao Telide, Xiao Shisan, and their faction.

及太子廢徙於上京，召忽古至，殺之。 When the crown prince was deposed and sent to Shangjing, Hugu was summoned there and executed.

時樞密使耶律乙辛誣殺皇后，謀廢太子，斥忠賢，進奸黨，石柳惡其所為，乙辛覺之。 Bureau Commissioner Yelu Yixin had framed the empress for execution, plotted to depose the crown prince, banished the loyal, and advanced his faction; Shiliu loathed these acts, and Yixin took notice.

太子既廢，以石柳附太子，流鎮州。 After the crown prince was deposed, Shiliu was judged a partisan of the heir and banished to Zhenzhou.

蔽先帝之明，誣陷順聖，構害忠讜，敗國罔上，自古所無。 He blinded the late emperor, falsely condemned Emperor Shunsheng, destroyed loyal remonstrators, and ruined the state while deceiving his sovereign—crimes without precedent.

先帝若以順考為實，則乙辛為功臣，陛下豈得立耶？ If the late emperor had believed the accusations against your late father, Yixin would count as a meritorious minister—how then could Your Majesty have ascended the throne?

今逆黨未除，大冤不報，上無以慰順考之靈，下無以釋天下之憤。 The traitorous faction still stands unpunished and the great wrong unavenged; your late father's spirit finds no comfort, and the people's outrage finds no release.

臣願陛下下明詔，求順考之瘞所，盡收逆黨以正邦憲，快四方忠義之心，昭國家賞罰之用，然後致治之道可得而舉矣。 I beg Your Majesty to issue a clear edict, find your late father's burial place, apprehend the entire traitorous faction to uphold the law, satisfy loyal subjects everywhere, and make the state's rewards and punishments plain—only then can good governance truly be pursued.

謹別錄順聖升遐及乙辛等事，昧死以聞。 I respectfully attach a separate record of Emperor Shunsheng's death and Yixin's crimes, and risk my life to lay this before Your Majesty.

使道宗能從巖壽、撒剌之諫，後何得而誣，太子何得而廢哉？ Had Emperor Daozong heeded Yanshou and Sala, how could those frame-ups have followed, or the crown prince been deposed?
